Recap by phillip woo

Tactical Command got up to just deny Honest Witness after a rails run from midfield for a third win from 15 starts this term. Favourite Honest Witness found one just too good after poking his head on top 200m out following a speed-tracking run on the fence. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in back-to-back Valley runs from five starts. Grand Nova kept on gamely to finish a close third after sitting third near the inside. It was a solid effort at his first start over the Valley 1,200m. King Eccellente stayed on a non-threatening fourth after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another honest effort. Punted late, Bits Superstar whacked on next best after pushing wide 450m out following a prominent run wide without cover from gate seven. He's gone OK in both starts following a win in May. Golden Friendship was on his tippy toes 100m out after rolling forward to lead 900m out from gate eight. Favourite Dancing Classics ran on without threatening after making his run two from the rear. The switch to the Valley backfired after a win and a troubled 13th from two starts.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (843) - FAST MOST FURIOUS HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 DANCING CLASSICS (J060) H Bowman After the event H Bowman stated that the instructions were to go forward.

He said on jumping DANCING CLASSICS shifted in and made contact with COSMO LIGHT.

He said as a consequence he then elected to ride the horse in a conservative manner from its wide barrier to avoid covering additional ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 KING ECCELLENTE (G264) J Orman Bumped at the start.

Near the 250 Metres was shifted to the inside of GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP to continue into clear running.

Horse No 3 GRAND NOVA (J323) M Chadwick Near the 600 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied to avoid HONEST WITNESS and shifted to that runner's outside.

A short distance later GRAND NOVA was then obliged to race wide and without cover when HONEST WITNESS shifted out away from the running rail.

Horse No 4 TACTICAL COMMAND (H197) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 GREAT LEGACY (K187) A Hamelin From the outside barrier raced keenly in the early stages when being shifted across behind runners.

Horse No 6 BITS SUPERSTAR (J362) C L Chau From the 600 Metres raced wide and without cover.

Horse No 7 HONEST WITNESS (K283) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 COSMO LIGHT (J379) K C Leung Bumped on jumping.

Horse No 10 TELECOM POWER (J332) K Teetan Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards gave consideration to an application from Jockey K Teetan that his mount had been denied a fair start.

After taking evidence from Jockey Teetan, Trainer Y S Tsui and Starter Mr A Speechley, the Stewards found that just prior to the start being effected TELECOM POWER lifted its front legs from the ground, resulting in TELECOM POWER being slow to begin.

After considering the incident and the fact that TELECOM POWER was able to establish a midfield position and taking into account the manner in which the horse finished the race off, the Stewards were satisfied that such occurrence had not materially prejudiced the chances of the horse in the race.

On that basis TELECOM POWER was declared a runner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP (K106) H Bentley After the event H Bentley stated that with blinkers being applied for the first time he was instructed to go forward.

Horse No 12 CIRCUIT VICTORY (H487) M F Poon Bumped at the start.

A short distance later made contact with KING ECCELLENTE, resulting in M F Poon's left foot being dislodged from his stirrup for a short distance.

After the event M F Poon stated that his mount did not travel well during the race and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
