Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (840) - STAR SHINE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 FIND MY LOVE (H110) H Bowman Bumped at the start.
Over the final 100 Metres was held up for clear running between MONARCH COUNTY and WINNING MONEY and as a result could not be ridden out to the finish of the event.
Horse No 2 THUNDER PRINCE (K017) Z Purton Jumped awkwardly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the event Z Purton stated that his mount was unsuited by the pace of the event being run inside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 GENIUS BABY (K132) K C Leung On jumping became unbalanced when it bumped heavily with JOLLY COMPANION.
Horse No 4 MONARCH COUNTY (J421) J Orman On jumping was bumped by FIND MY LOVE, resulting in MONARCH COUNTY shifting in and away from FIND MY LOVE and making contact with JOLLY COMPANION.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 FLASH STAR (K431) E C W Wong Brushed a rail leaving the Parade Ring, was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the Start and passed suitable to race.
Jumped only fairly and shortly afterwards was severely checked when crowded between WINNING DIAMOND which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider and GENIUS BABY which shifted in after making heavy contact with JOLLY COMPANION.
In the Home Straight raced greenly and hung in.
As a result Apprentice E C W Wong had difficulty testing his mount in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 AMAZING KID (K434) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 150 Metres was steadied when momentarily crowded between GENIUS BABY and SAME TO YOU, both of which shifted ground slightly.
Horse No 7 WINNING DIAMOND (K216) M Chadwick Crowded shortly after the start by WINNING MONEY.
After the event M Chadwick stated that his mount, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley, raced greenly throughout the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
Horse No 9 JOLLY COMPANION (H454) L Ferraris On jumping was checked when crowded between GENIUS BABY and MONARCH COUNTY which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider after making contact with FIND MY LOVE.
Horse No 11 WINNING MONEY (J116) A Hamelin Shifted out shortly after the start and as a result was corrected by its rider.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 SAME TO YOU (H057) Y L Chung After the event Y L Chung stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to go forward.
Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 10 ISLAND BREEZES (J479) C L Chau Was a late withdrawal acting on veterinary advice after being found to be lame in its right front leg on arrival at Happy Valley.
Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND BREEZES will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Monarch County had a box-seat run and after claiming the lead 250m out, he scrambled in for a second win and first at the Valley from nine starts. He lived up to an eye-catching fifth last start at his first start over the Valley 1,200m. Early favourite Winning Money would not go down without a fight after setting the pace from gate one. He was able to back up a front-running third last start. Flying Wrote made it close on the wire after a one-out, one-back run. It was another honest performance without winning from 11 starts this term. Well-backed late Jolly Companion flashed home late through the centre to just miss a placing by a bob of heads after making his run second last from an outside draw. It was his best effort from four starts on turf this season. Find My Love was badly held up for a run over the last 150m following a rail run from midfield. He should have finished closer. Genius Baby made some ground for sixth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was an improved effort at his second start down in Class Four. Thunder Prince ran on without threatening after making his run three from the rear.
