Recap by phillip woo

Huge Wave got the better of the late-fancied Mister Dapper over the final 80m following a one-off trip from behind midfield for a deserving second win this term after filling the frame in his past three starts. Mister Dapper gave a cheeky sight for second after claiming the lead 200m out following a one-off trip from midfield. He was able to hold his own in a higher grade after back-to-back Class Four wins. Atullibigeal ran on nicely to grab third late after travelling behind midfield following a sluggish start. He proved a placing last start following a downgrade was not a fluke. Pope Cody found a few too good after moving to the lead 360m out following a prominent run with cover from gate 11. He can bob up at any moment with fourths in his past four runs. Mickley got going late for fifth after making his run two from the rear. The race tempo worked against him.

Racing Incident Report

Race Nine : (836) - SIGHT WINNER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1600Meters

Horse No 2 MICKLEY (K082) B Thompson Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.

Horse No 3 TOURBILLON PRINCE (H122) L Ferraris After the event L Ferraris stated that whilst his mount was able to hold the lead in the early stages, approaching the 1000 Metres he elected to allow CALL ME TOPSEED and KOLACHI to cross his mount as he felt the pace would have been too strong if he contested the lead.

He said after being crossed by those runners leaving the 1000 Metres his mount then travelled comfortably thereafter.

He added entering the Home Straight TOURBILLON PRINCE was held up for clear running behind those runners until near the 350 Metres where it responded only fairly to his riding thereafter.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 5 YOUNG ACHIEVER (J291) H Bowman Trainer J Richards was fined the sum of $3,000 for presenting the horse with a ring bit which was not part of the horse's approved racing gear.
