Recap by phillip woo

Woodfire Champ crossed to the lead from gate six and kept finding to just defeat Ragnarr for a second win this season from 18 career starts. He appreciated a step back to the course and distance of a win when rated three points higher in October. Ragnarr just missed after enjoying a lovely run fourth along the fence from gate one. He's a winner waiting to happen if he can draw another good gate. Triumphant Warrior plugged on for third after tracking the speed from gate nine. It was an encouraging run down in grade carrying top weight. Firming favourite So Awesome ran on well for fourth without threatening the top three after making his run just worse than midfield on the fence. It was another honest performance. Almighty Kick gradually faded for fifth after chasing the speed three wide without cover in third. It was one of his better runs from 14 starts this term. Multidarling ran on without threatening near the outside after making his run two from the rear. Hammered late in betting, Ever Smart never got into the race after travelling last from gate 12.
