Race Two : (757) - HKU FACULTIES OF LAW AND MEDICINE HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 BEAUTIFUL WIN (J250) J Orman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 SMILING COLLECTOR (G128) H Bowman Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 3 VIVA CHALEUR (G368) A Badel After the event A Badel reported that his mount raced "flat" during the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 APOLAR FIGHTER (J169) B Avdulla Between the 300 Metres and the 150 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind BEAUTIFUL WIN.
Horse No 6 SMASHING EXPRESS (J252) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly.
Horse No 7 FAMILY FORTUNE (H447) L Ferraris Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of VIVA CHALEUR.
Horse No 8 SUPREME WINNER (J255) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and then was crowded between SMART BEAUTY and APOLAR FIGHTER, both of which shifted ground.
Horse No 9 PERFECT PEACH (E488) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.
On two occasions near the 600 Metres was steadied when crowded by JOYFUL FRIENDSHIP (M F Poon) which shifted in and away from VIVA CHALEUR.
M F Poon was advised to exercise more care and straighten his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion.
When questioned Z Purton stated that after improving to the inside of SUPREME WINNER near the 400 Metres he then was endeavouring to improve between SUPREME WINNER and APOLAR FIGHTER between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres, but was unable to do so when the run did not fully develop.
He said leaving the 200 Metres when APOLAR FIGHTER commenced to shift out, this resulted in PERFECT PEACH being steadied when disappointed for clear running between SUPREME WINNER and APOLAR FIGHTER leaving the 150 Metres.
He added after shifting to the inside of APOLAR FIGHTER near the 100 Metres his mount finished the race off reasonably well.
Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
Horse No 10 SMART BEAUTY (G477) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 GOLD TACK (H106) A Hamelin Near the 250 Metres rider A Hamelin dropped his whip.
Between the 250 Metres and the 150 Metres lay in and proved reluctant to improve between CELTIC TIMES and WINNING SEVEN as it endeavoured to obtain a narrow run between those two runners.
Horse No 12 JOYFUL FRIENDSHIP (H295) M F Poon Approaching the 250 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind GOLD TACK.
Leaving the 100 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between VIVA CHALEUR and WINNING SEVEN, both of which shifted ground slightly.
Horse No 13 WINNING SEVEN (J005) M L Yeung Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Smart Beauty travelled in the box seat and reeled in favourite Beautiful Win 100m out for a fifth win at his 40th start. He was a well-rated runner and likely appreciated the rain softened course. Beautiful Win grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate four. He's a winner waiting to happen with placings in back-to-back runs following a downgrade. Specked late Apolar Fighter just got the head down for third after a rails run from midfield. It was his best effort from 10 starts at his initial run over 1,600m. Gold Tack was doing his best work late to just miss third after a one-off trip from midfield. It was another honest effort after running on for second last start over the Valley 1,800m. Celtic Times kept on one-paced after a prominent run one off with cover from gate eight. It was his best run of the campaign following a downgrade.
