Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Capital Legend travelled one-off behind midfield and quickened nicely through the centre to take control 50m out for a second win this season. He was able to back up an eye-catching course and distance second seven days ago. Sterling Wongchoy grudgingly gave way after clearing to lead 1,150m out from gate six. He was able to back up a win last start in Class Five. Satirical Fan plugged on third best after making his run on the leader's back from gate one. He's run well to place in two of his past three starts. Punted late Celestial Patch flashed home late for fourth after fanning widest out upon straightening ridden cold from gate 11. He proved a rallying third at his first Valley 1,650m start last month was not a fluke. Stormi ran on steadily for fifth after a one-off trip from midfield. Forever Glorious produced a grinding effort after a rails run from midfield. Great Spirit ran on without threatening from near the rear. It was an okay effort with a step up to 1,650m but does appear to be on his mark following his last win. Favourite Glorious Journey was disappointing after a prominent run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (751) - TAI KOK TSUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 GLORIOUS JOURNEY (J137) Z Purton After the event Z Purton stated that with the early stages of the event being run inside of standard time GLORIOUS JOURNEY found it difficult to run on in the Home Straight, particularly racing first up from a 119-day break and carrying top weight of 135 lbs.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of GLORIOUS JOURNEY was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race start.

Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS JOURNEY will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 FOREVER GLORIOUS (G229) L Hewitson Bumped shortly after the start.

Near the 450 Metres was steadied to avoid GLORIOUS JOURNEY.

Horse No 5 TURIN WARRIOR (G150) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.

Approaching the 1400 Metres was steadied to avoid CAPITAL LEGEND (Apprentice E C W Wong) which shifted in when not quite clear.

Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.

Near the 350 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of YODA'S CHOICE to avoid YODA'S CHOICE as it gave ground.

After the event L Ferraris reported that his mount raced "flat" during the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 GREAT SPIRIT (J155) A Atzeni From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 CAPITAL LEGEND (G333) E C W Wong Held up making the Home Turn.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 CELESTIAL PATCH (K151) A Hamelin Bumped at the start.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the 350 Metres was taken wider by TURIN WARRIOR which shifted out.

Horse No 10 FIGOPUMPKIN (K137) J Orman Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start bumped with FOREVER GLORIOUS.

Horse No 11 YODA'S CHOICE (J146) B Thompson Bumped at the start.

After the event B Thompson reported that the intention was to hold an on-pace position.

He said in the early stages when caught wide and without cover to the outside of GLORIOUS JOURNEY he attempted to go forward and cross that runner after the 1000 Metres but his mount did not show sufficient pace to do so which resulted in YODA'S CHOICE having to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of YODA'S CHOICE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, YODA'S CHOICE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 STERLING WONGCHOY (H273) M L Yeung When questioned M L Yeung stated that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position behind YODA'S CHOICE which connections had expected to lead.

He said in the early stages when positioned to the outside of SATIRICAL FAN, STERLING WONGCHOY raced keenly and refused to settle.

He said as a result he allowed STERLING WONGCHOY to go forward and cross SATIRICAL FAN and after doing so his mount settled better in the lead.

Whilst the Stewards noted this resulted in STERLING WONGCHOY running the early sectionals of the race inside of standard time they were satisfied that Jockey Yeung's actions to go forward were reasonable in the circumstances.

Sent for sampling post-race.
