Recap by phillip woo

Following a one-out one back run, the punted late Smart City was much too smart after hitting the lead 200m out for a first win at his 16th local start. He was well rated off two earlier placings over this course and distance. Forerunner ran on nicely along the inside for second travelling fourth last after getting squeezed out at the start. It was a solid effort at his first run over the Valley 1,650m. Our Lucky Glory ran on well for third after a rail run from behind midfield. He was able to build on a fourth-place effort last start. Wah May Wai Wai kept on well for fourth after handing up the lead to sit box seat just underneath the 1,000m. It was a return to form after five ordinary efforts. Iconical only plodded after a handy run along the inside. He's found things a harder in his three starts following a win. Early favourite Soaring Bronco didn't have much left in the tank over the last 100m after claiming the lead from Wah May Wai Wai 950m out. It was a below-par effort after a win and three placings from his past five starts. Post-time favourite Run Run Timing was pulled up after drifting off the track 1,350m out.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (749) - TAI KOK TSUI HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 FLAGSHIP WARRIOR (G452) E C W Wong After the event Apprentice E C W Wong stated that making the first turn he was taken wider when SMART CITY shifted out and away from the rail.

He said FLAGSHIP WARRIOR was then left racing without cover and commenced to race keenly which resulted in him then allowing FLAGSHIP WARRIOR to stride forward and race outside the lead leaving the 1000 Metres.

He added due to the manner in which FLAGSHIP WARRIOR raced throughout the early stages of the event it did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 FORERUNNER (G465) L Hewitson Crowded at the start.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 LUCKY COMBINATION (J512) L Ferraris Was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the Start and passed suitable to race.

On jumping was steadied when crowded between SOARING BRONCO and FORERUNNER which was taken out by RUN RUN TIMING.

After the event L Ferraris stated that his mount did not travel well during the event and failed to change its lead leg during the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of LUCKY COMBINATION was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY COMBINATION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

Horse No 7 SIGHT SUPREME (J258) J Orman From the 450 Metres was taken wider when ICONICAL shifted out to improve.

Horse No 8 SOARING BRONCO (J162) K C Leung After the event K C Leung reported that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position with cover.

He said in the early stages SOARING BRONCO raced keenly and as a result he allowed it to improve forward to race in the lead near the 900 Metres.

He added due to the manner in which the horse raced in the early stages, particularly when pressured by FLAGSHIP WARRIOR, SOARING BRONCO did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 SMART CITY (J213) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) Y L Chung Approaching the 300 Metres was checked to avoid SOARING BRONCO when that runner commenced to give ground.

Horse No 12 RUN RUN TIMING (H403) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and made contact with FORERUNNER.

When questioned A Atzeni stated that his mount gave him no concern when it was proceeding to the starting gates.

He said soon after the start he had concern with the action of RUN RUN TIMING and then when it failed to respond to his urgings to go forward and he was concerned there was something amiss with the horse he retired it from the event leaving the 1500 Metres.

Trainer C H Yip advised that the horse had pleased him in the lead up to the race and in particular it had worked well on Monday, 9 June 2025 when ridden by Jockey Atzeni who provided positive feedback following its gallop.

He said RUN RUN TIMING had not displayed any issues within the stable and he was surprised that Jockey Atzeni had identified concerns with the horse's action.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The Stewards ruled that RUN RUN TIMING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments before being allowed to run again.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 LESLIE (E471) Z Purton After arriving at the starting gates was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found to be lame in front and as such was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice LESLIE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

Before being allowed to race again, LESLIE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

Horse No ZETTA FORCE (J546) C L Chau Withdrawn on 10.6.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (inappetence) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter LESLIE.

Before being allowed to race again, ZETTA FORCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
