Recap by phillip woo
After rushing to the lead from last 150m out following his usual tardy start, firming favourite Light Years Charm won with something in hand for a third win from eight Hong Kong starts. Dancing Code kept on gamely after assuming the lead from Drombeg Banner 600m out following a pace-prompting run along the inside. He is as honest as the days is long. Young Champion ran on well for third after coming to the final bend three wide with cover travelling midfield. Chiu Chow Spirit had his chance after a prominent run on the fence but only whacked on for a one-paced fourth. Mickley ran on late for fifth after making his run third last in the smallish field. He's better suited over a longer trip. Drombeg Banner didn't offer much in the straight after leading one off for half the race. He's at his best when allowed to bowl along in front. Invincible Shield failed to produce a whimper after travelling effectively one-out, one-back. He's disappointed in back-to-back runs after three consecutive wins.
