Recap by phillip woo

After rushing to the lead from last 150m out following his usual tardy start, firming favourite Light Years Charm won with something in hand for a third win from eight Hong Kong starts. Dancing Code kept on gamely after assuming the lead from Drombeg Banner 600m out following a pace-prompting run along the inside. He is as honest as the days is long. Young Champion ran on well for third after coming to the final bend three wide with cover travelling midfield. Chiu Chow Spirit had his chance after a prominent run on the fence but only whacked on for a one-paced fourth. Mickley ran on late for fifth after making his run third last in the smallish field. He's better suited over a longer trip. Drombeg Banner didn't offer much in the straight after leading one off for half the race. He's at his best when allowed to bowl along in front. Invincible Shield failed to produce a whimper after travelling effectively one-out, one-back. He's disappointed in back-to-back runs after three consecutive wins.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (743) - LEE ON HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 HEALTHY HAPPY (D435) L Ferraris When questioned L Ferraris stated that his instructions were to go forward.

He said in the early stages when positioned to the outside of DROMBEG BANNER he had initially expected that horse to go forward and cross DANCING CODE.

He said when DROMBEG BANNER did not continue forward he then commenced to urge his mount forward with a view to crossing DROMBEG BANNER.

He added as he did so DROMBEG BANNER was then ridden forward near the 900 Metres and as a consequence HEALTHY HAPPY was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 2 YOUNG CHAMPION (J195) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 4 INVINCIBLE SHIELD (K168) J Orman Crowded at the start.

After the event J Orman reported that his mount raced "flat" today.

Trainer K W Lui advised that he would now give the horse a let-up.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 DANCING CODE (G365) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 LIGHT YEARS CHARM (K130) Z Purton Jumped only fairly and shortly afterwards was steadied when crowded between HEALTHY HAPPY and INVINCIBLE SHIELD which was taken out by DROMBEG BANNER which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 MICKLEY (K082) A Atzeni For a short distance after the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running.
