Recap by phillip woo

Matters Most drew clear after hitting the front 200m out following a prominent run on the fence for a first win at his 11th local start. It was clearly his best performance to date with a move to blinkers. Favourite Flowing Riches battled away for second after chasing the speed one off the fence from gate 10. The debutant lived up to his trials and should be winning a race soon. Specked late, Ka Ying Resilience weakened late after dictating the pace from gate nine. It was a return to form after a second on his seasonal reappearance in November. Lucky Archangel ran on steadily for fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was another honest effort. Turf Phoenix made some ground near the inside for fifth after a patient ride four from the rear. He's still trying to find a rating bottom, but it was an improved performance.
