Racing Incident Report
Race Four : (711) - CIRON HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 O'LINER (H264) Y L Chung After the event Y L Chung stated that his mount hung out throughout the race and gave ground when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 GENIUS BABY (K132) K C Leung After the event K C Leung stated that with the horse dropping down in grade it did not appreciate carrying 133 lbs and as a result found it difficult to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

Horse No 5 THUNDER PRINCE (K017) H Bowman Shortly after the start raced tight to the inside of O'LINER which shifted in and away from SWEET BRIAR despite the efforts of its rider.
Raced keenly in the early stages.
Near the 350 Metres raced tight to the inside of ISLAND BUDDY when that runner shifted in and away from ALWAYS MY FOLKS.
When questioned regarding his riding in the early part of the Home Straight H Bowman stated that THUNDER PRINCE commenced to run on strongly after straightening.
He said his initial intention was to improve between O'LINER and GENIUS BABY, however, when he observed GENIUS BABY commence to shift out he was of the opinion that run would close and as his mount was travelling strongly he elected to immediately shift to the outside of O'LINER with a view to following BITS SUPERSTAR into the race.
He said after being steadied and shifted to the outside of O'LINER he was unable to continue out as he had ISLAND BUDDY positioned to his outside which resulted in THUNDER PRINCE being held up for clear running until near the 200 Metres after which it finished the race off well when improving to the inside of BITS SUPERSTAR.
After considering his explanation the Stewards were satisfied that the tactics adopted by Jockey Bowman in the Home Straight were reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 6 ISLAND BUDDY (J217) A Atzeni Over the concluding stages could not be fully ridden out when racing tight between BITS SUPERSTAR and ALWAYS MY FOLKS.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) B Avdulla Near the 200 Metres was shifted to the outside of ALWAYS MY FOLKS to continue into clear running.
COUNTRY DANCER then raced tight between ALWAYS MY FOLKS and SWEET BRIAR over the final 150 Metres.
Over the concluding stages COUNTRY DANCER could not be ridden out when it continued to race tight between ALWAYS MY FOLKS and SWEET BRIAR.

Horse No 9 REWARDING TWINKLE (J368) M Chadwick Slow to begin.
Leaving the 150 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running between GENIUS BABY and O'LINER.
Horse No 10 ALWAYS MY FOLKS (J345) K Teetan Was left racing wide and without cover from the 750 Metres.
Horse No 11 SUPER CHARIZZARD (J184) A Badel Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the left side of its barrier and as a result jumped only fairly.

Bits Superstar rolled forward three wide from gate 11 to sit second outside O'Liner before leading 200m out and finding plenty for a first win at his 12th start. Thunder Prince just failed to get up for the win after a one-off trip from midfield. An ideal draw nearly worked the oracle. Always My Folks just found a couple too good after sitting third and wide without cover the entire trip from gate 12. He lived up to a near win when attempting the Valley 1,200m last start for the first time. Sweet Briar ran on for fourth after a oneoff trip from better than midfield. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Favourite Island Buddy weakened after tracking the leader from gate eight. He's a good money spinner for connections but isn't anything special. Rewarding Twinkle made good ground late near the inside from the rear of the field following a slow start. It wasn't a bad effort following a stable change. Super Charizzard ran on without threatening after making his run one from the rear. Country Dancer wasn't far away with his move through the centre after making his run one-off travelling behind midfield.
