Recap by phillip woo

Perfect Pairing settled three back on the fence and reeled in favourite Hakka Radiance 60m out for a first win at his 15th start. He was able to build on a runner-up result last start over last night's 2,200m trip. Hakka Radiance found one too good after taking the lead 800m out following a one-out, one-back run. He has been racing well without winning this season. Management Folks ran on well near the outside to grab third 50m out after making his run third last after a typical slow start. It was another good run carrying more weight following a win. Brown-lamped in betting, Midori Giant only plodded after a prominent run on the fence. He had his chance, but it was a better effort at his second run down in Class Four. S J Tourbillon ran on well for fifth ridden for luck at the back from gate 10. He can bob up at any moment after showing a bit more spark in recent runs. Romantic Fantasy gradually faded after handing up the lead to Hakka Radiance 800m out. The change in tactics to lead backfired. Serangoon ran on without threatening after making his run two from the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (652) - THE FRENCH MAY TROPHY (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 2200Meters

Horse No 1 CAN'T GO WONG (H087) M F Poon Approaching the 2000 Metres was hampered when taken wider by SERANGOON.

After the event M F Poon advised that his instructions were to take up a midfield position.

He said when CAN'T GO WONG was caught wide in the early stages and when the pace of the event was being run outside of standard time he elected to allow his mount to stride forward to take up a position outside the lead to avoid covering additional ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 SERANGOON (H296) H Bentley Approaching the 2000 Metres was steadied to avoid ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT which shifted out when racing fiercely.

After the event H Bentley reported that his intention was to be a little more forward but his mount jumped only fairly and settled further back.

He said in the Back Straight he endeavoured to start a forward move behind ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT but when that runner did not continue forward he was obliged to shift to that runner's inside and was unable to ride his mount forward.

He added in the Home Straight SERANGOON finished the race off in a one-paced manner.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 OCEAN IMPACT (J502) J Orman After the 700 Metres was bumped by MIDORI GIANT when MIDORI GIANT shifted out to commence a forward move.

Horse No 6 ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT (J524) Z Purton After the event Z Purton stated that his instructions were to endeavour to find cover.

He said throughout the early stages of the event ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT raced fiercely, got its head up and refused to settle.

He added ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT continued to race keenly in the middle stages and after attempting to improve his position in the Back Straight ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT did not respond to his riding and commenced to give ground from the 500 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
