Recap by phillip woo

Invincible Shield settled prominently before hitting the lead 100m out and golding off the late surge of Markwin for a third straight win from four starts despite a rise in class and distance. He's got room to head higher. Sensationally-backed Markwin was unlucky not to have won after getting held up for a run until the 220m following a rails run from behind midfield. Soleil Fighter found a couple just too good after moving to the lead 270m out following a speed-tracking run from the widest draw. This run proves he's not just a one-trick pony at the Valley. Swift Ascend ran on well for fourth after biding his time one from the rear. It was another honest effort. Healthy Happy succumbed late for fifth after dictating the run from gate nine. The big weight took its toll. Dancing Code only held his ground after getting held up on the back of the speed following a box-seat run. He had an excuse. Mid Winter Wind got going late without ever threatening from towards the rear. He's disappointed three times after a debut win in Hong Kong.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (623) - FWD INSURANCE BOCOM HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 TAJ DRAGON (H164) J McDonald After the event J McDonald stated that although TAJ DRAGON raced wide and without cover, when under pressure in the Home Straight he had concern with his horse's action and as a result he eased it down from the event when not in a competitive position in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of TAJ DRAGON was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race start.

Before being allowed to race again, TAJ DRAGON will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 2 DIVANO (J142) Z Purton After the event Z Purton stated that DIVANO responded well to his riding in the early part of the Home Straight.

He added that near the 100 Metres he had some concern with his mount's action and for this reason he did not fully test DIVANO out to the finish of the event when he felt there was something amiss with it.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, DIVANO will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 YOUNG CHAMPION (J195) B Avdulla From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

After the event B Avdulla stated that after settling back in the field his mount was disadvantaged when positioned behind TAJ DRAGON and MID WINTER WIND as those runners did not take him into the event.

He said in the Home Straight YOUNG CHAMPION finished the race off only fairly but in his opinion was not suited by having to race back in the field.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 DANCING CODE (G365) E C W Wong Approaching the 900 Metres, when racing tight to the inside of HEALTHY HAPPY, commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being steadied.

Horse No 6 INVINCIBLE SHIELD (K168) C Williams Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 MID WINTER WIND (K208) J Moreira Approaching the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between TAJ DRAGON (J McDonald) which shifted in slightly and MARKWIN (H Bentley) which shifted out.

J McDonald was advised to exercise more care.

H Bentley was reprimanded.

Horse No 9 SWIFT ASCEND (H395) K Teetan On jumping made contact with MID WINTER WIND, shifted in and was then steadied away from DANCING CODE when that runner shifted out at the start.

Noted to have lost its right front plate after the race.

Horse No 10 MARKWIN (J420) H Bentley Between the 450 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running when being shifted to the outside of DIVANO.

Sent for sampling post-race.
