Punted late Fallon travelled one off in midfield and took control 100m out for a second win to go with two seconds from four starts following a switch to the Valley. He remains one to follow at this course. Excellence Value ran on well down the outside for second after a rails run from behind midfield. He was suited by the race tempo but like the latter has blossomed following a switch to the Valley in his past three starts. Lean Hero ran on well to snatch third after making his run fourth last. He was suited by the pace but does have solid form over the Valley 1,800m. Favourite Beauty Alliance was hanging on late for fourth after shooting to the lead 250m out following a prominent run. It was a better effort on his return to the Valley after struggling in the Derby. Chain Of Gold came from well back for fifth after settling second last and about 15 lengths off the leader Northern Beast at one point. Money Catcher made ground late near the inside for sixth after making his run at the rear. Charity Gain ran on late through the centre without menacing after making his run four from the rear. He might be on or near his mark.

Horse No 1 MONEY CATCHER (G171) M F Poon Slow to begin.

Horse No 2 TURIN MASCOT (H165) Z Purton A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 BEAUTY ALLIANCE (J260) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 FALLON (H219) B Thompson Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 JUMBO LEGEND (G266) H Bentley On jumping got its head up, then became unbalanced and lost ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 LUCK IS BACK (J398) K De Melo Shortly after the start shifted in and made contact with LEAN HERO.

Approaching the 1300 Metres shifted out and away from the rail, made contact with GOOD LUCK WIN and became unbalanced.

Horse No 7 EXCELLENCE VALUE (K093) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 CHARITY GAIN (H431) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 10 LEAN HERO (G402) K C Leung Bumped shortly after the start.

Horse No 11 NORTHERN BEAST (H233) K Teetan When questioned K Teetan stated that his instructions were to hold an on-pace position from his wide barrier and he was given the option to allow NORTHERN BEAST to lead if the circumstances of the race permitted.

He said after riding his mount along in the early stages to comply with his instructions he was caught racing wide to the outside of GOOD LUCK WIN.

He said when he did not observe an opportunity to obtain a position with cover he continued to urge NORTHERN BEAST forward where he was able to cross to the lead near the 1200 Metres.

When questioned if there was an opportunity to set a slower pace between the 1200 Metres and the 800 Metres K Teetan stated that as NORTHERN BEAST was racing a little keenly due to the manner he was obliged to ride it to cross to the lead, he was reluctant to place too much pressure on the horse to reduce the pace as it was travelling comfortably.

Trainer D J Hall confirmed the instructions issued and stated that, in his opinion, NORTHER BEAST was disadvantaged by setting too fast a pace in the early and middle stages of the event.

After considering his explanation the Stewards found the tactics adopted by Jockey Teetan in going forward to lead were reasonable in the circumstances, however, he was advised that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made a greater effort between the 1200 Metres and the 800 Metres to set a more sustainable tempo to give NORTHER BEAST the opportunity to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 GOOD LUCK WIN (J135) Y L Chung Approaching the 1300 Metres was bumped by LUCK IS BACK and became unbalanced.

Approaching the 300 Metres was steadied to avoid NORTHERN BEAST when that runner commenced to give ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
