Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (593) - BELLFLOWER HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2200Meters
Horse No 1 MIDORI GIANT (K095) H Bowman At declaration time L Hewitson was erroneously declared as the rider of MIDORI GIANT.
The Stewards acceded to a request by Trainer M Newnham soon after declarations to replace Jockey Hewitson with Jockey H Bowman as Jockey Bowman had been engaged to ride the horse.
For this error, Mr Newnham was fined the sum of $5,000.
Bumped on jumping.
M Chadwick (PEGASUS GENERAL) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 750 Metres he allowed his mount to shift out, resulting in MIDORI GIANT having to be checked to avoid PEGASUS GENERAL.
M Chadwick was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 4 May 2025 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
After the event, H Bowman stated that after striking interference near the 750 Metres his mount did not run on in the Home Straight and, in his opinion, may not have run out the 2200 Metres of tonight's event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 CAPITAL LEGEND (G333) E C W Wong Raced wide and without cover until the 900 Metres where it commenced a forward move and was able to obtain the lead near the 700 Metres.
Horse No 4 FLOOF (H432) M F Poon Near the 350 Metres blundered.
Noted to have sustained a wound to the right front fetlock.
Horse No 5 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) A Badel Approaching the 500 Metres raced tight between FLOOF and MIDORI GIANT which lay in and away from MANAGEMENT FOLKS.
Horse No 6 ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT (J524) Z Purton When questioned, Z Purton stated that from a wide barrier his instructions were to take up a forward position, similar to the manner in which his mount raced at its most recent start.
He said in the early and middle stages ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT raced keenly and refused to settle.
He added when CAPITAL LEGEND made a forward move in the Back Straight his mount came under pressure and did not finish the race off thereafter.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 ARTHUR'S KINGDOM (E194) Y L Chung Near the 1700 Metres was briefly crowded by ROSEWOOD FLEETFOOT which shifted in when over-racing.
Leaving the 600 Metres lay in and made contact with the running rail.
After the event, Y L Chung stated that his mount was disadvantaged by being pressured in the middle stages when CAPITAL LEGEND made a forward move and as a result ARTHUR'S KINGDOM did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 HAKKA RADIANCE (J105) A Atzeni Bumped on jumping.
In the early stages raced keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
Horse No 9 PEGASUS GENERAL (G189) M Chadwick M Chadwick pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 750 Metres (see MIDORI GIANT).
Horse No 10 MANAGEMENT FOLKS (E496) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 PERFECT PAIRING (J331) M L Yeung Near the 500 Metres was steadied to avoid FLOOF.
Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Home Straight was held up for clear running behind FLOOF.

Favourite Management Folks came from near last after his usual slow start to win going away 50m out. He had been knocking on the door in his past three starts. Perfect Pairing took the short route home from last at the top of the straight to grab second in the concluding stages. It was clearly his best run from 14 local runs following an okay fifth down in Class Five last start. Serangoon kept battling away to share third after taking off 900m out from near the rear to lead 600m out. It was a better effort. Hakka Radiance stayed on well to dead-heat for third after a prominent run with cover. It was another honest performance. Romantic Fantasy made ground late down the outside for fifth after travelling midfield on the fence for the first half of the race. It was a better effort at his second run back following a ligament injury in September. Punted late Floof came up one-paced after travelling in the box seat until the race complexion changed. Rosewood Fleetfoot tamely faded after reefing and tearing in a pace-stalking role outside early leader Arthur's Kingdom. He couldn't back up a long-priced third last start at Sha Tin.
