Race Five : (576) - THE HONG KONG CHINA RUGBY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1000Meters
Horse No 2 YOUTHFUL SPIRITS (J082) L Ferraris Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 ETERNAL FORTUNE (K010) H T Mo Shortly after the start was badly crowded for room between WATCH THIS ONE and YOUTHFUL SPIRITS and became unbalanced.
After the event, H T Mo stated that his instructions were to obtain a handy position.
He said after being crowded shortly after the start he was obliged to make use of his mount in the early stages to comply with his instructions and as a result ETERNAL FORTUNE was left without a finishing effort over the concluding stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 COLOURFUL KING (K227) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 SEASONS WIT (H223) J Orman Shortly after the start was crowded, bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
Approaching the 800 Metres was eased to avoid WATCH THIS ONE (K Teetan) which shifted in when not quite clear.
K Teetan was advised to exercise more care.
Approaching the 250 Metres was bumped by KING ECCELLENTE which shifted out.
Horse No 8 WATCH THIS ONE (K268) K Teetan Shortly after the start was badly crowded between ETERNAL FORTUNE which was taken in slightly by YOUTHFUL SPIRITS and SEASONS WIT which was taken out by COLOURFUL KING which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider.
In the middle stages raced keenly.
Horse No 9 KING ECCELLENTE (G264) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Bumped approaching the 250 Metres.

Post-time favourite Colourful King ran on from midfield on the fence to hit the front 60m out and win geared down for back-to-back wins from three starts. He has a bright future. Early favourite Youthful Spirits found one too good yet again after having to work a bit from gate eight to assume his usual role in front. He's racing well without winning this season. Casa Of Honor stayed on well to just hold third after working hard three wide to travel one off in second 650m out from gate 10. It was an encouraging first start in Hong Kong. Watch This One ran on steadily to just miss third after a oneoff trip from behind midfield. He's run well for fourths in both local starts. Harmony N Blessed only plodded after a box-seat run. He should find his mark shortly in this grade. Seasons Wit ran on without threatening after making his run one from the rear. It was another disappointing run despite a return to his favourite Valley 1,000m. Eternal Fortune found nothing in the straight run sitting prominent with cover after a troubled start. King Eccellente never came on from towards the rear. He's a Class Four horse.
