Recap by phillip woo

Brilliant Express just collared Eighty Light Years after a wide trip without cover from midfield for a third win with a step back to his favourite 1,400m from his past four starts. Eighty Light Years found one just too good after leading 150m out after rushing forward to track the leader Turin Starspangled 900m out from the widest draw. He proved a last-start second was not a fluke. Favourite The Boom Box was short of room in the concluding stages while making his move from behind midfield. He should have gone close to winning. Lost Child ran on nicely for fourth after making his run three from the rear. It was a return to form from a better draw and he'll be a force to be reckoned with shortly in Class Four. Turin Starspangled gradually faded after crossing to lead from gate five. It was a positive showing off a 148-day break. Keefy kept on all right after a handy run one off the fence. He likely needs to drop a few points more in the handicaps. The heavily-backed Silo ran on without threatening settling second last from gate 12.

Horse No 1 THE BOOM BOX (K076) Z Purton Prior to declaring weighed-in, the Stewards gave consideration as to whether there were grounds for a protest/objection when THE BOOM BOX was hampered by EIGHTY LIGHT YEARS which shifted out near the 50 Metres when being corrected by its rider B Thompson.
