Recap by phillip woo

La Forza settled prominently near the grandstand side and shot through a gap to draw clear after hitting the lead 150m out for a third win from five starts and both starts over the straight 1,000m this term. He has the tools to head higher. Circuit Jolly stayed on well for second after a prominent run in the centre of the track from a low draw. He's given a good sight in both starts in this grade following a win in January. Aurora Patch ran on well for third after making his run behind midfield near the grandstand side. He was able to build on a runner-up result when trying the straight 1,000m last start. Northern Beaches ran on nicely on the far side for fourth after making his run one from the rear. It was a fine effort at his first run in 288 days following a tendon injury. Star Performer kept on reasonably well for fifth after making his run behind midfield following a sluggish start. It was a positive debut effort. Fast Responder was badly held up for a run until the 150m following a patient ride one from the rear.

Race Six : (548) - HARLECH HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1000Meters

Horse No 1 HORSEPOWER (J431) M Chadwick Near the 150 Metres lay out and made contact with STAR PERFORMER which shifted in slightly.

After the event, M Chadwick stated that whilst he was able to obtain cover during the race behind CIRCUIT JOLLY he was of the opinion that HORSEPOWER was disadvantaged by having no runner positioned to his inside as he believes HORSEPOWER races best when able to improve between runners as it did at its most recent start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 PACKING BOLE (H246) P N Wong Blundered on jumping.

Horse No 3 FAST RESPONDER (J295) J Orman Jumped awkwardly.

M F Poon was reprimanded.

In this incident FAST RESPONDER lay out and away from AURORA PATCH and contributed to the interference.

When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages J Orman stated that he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages as FAST RESPONDER had not finished the race off when ridden on the pace at its last start.

He said near the 700 Metres when positioned to the outside of FLYING TING LOK he allowed LA FORZA to cross his mount to comply with his instructions and also to provide FAST RESPONDER with a horse to follow into the race.
