Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (540) - KESTREL HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 2 FORTUNE WARRIOR (H229) L Ferraris After the event, L Ferraris reported that it was not the intention to lead but when caught wide in the early stages he elected to go forward to avoid covering additional ground.
He said once he obtained the lead FORTUNE WARRIOR was disadvantaged by being taken on by COLOURFUL WINNER which resulted in his mount being left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of FORTUNE WARRIOR was considered disappointing as compared to its previous race starts.
Before being allowed to race again, FORTUNE WARRIOR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 RISING FORCE (K236) R Kingscote Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 ARDEN (J505) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 5 PATCH OF STARS (J343) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.
Bumped leaving the 1100 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 VULCANUS (J150) A Atzeni Passing the 1100 Metres shifted in slightly, made contact with PATCH OF STARS, got its head up and became unbalanced.
Bumped near the 350 Metres.
Horse No 9 TAIHANG SCENERY (J314) C L Chau Near the 750 Metres was steadied to avoid GIMME FIVE.
After the event, C L Chau reported that in the Home Straight his mount did not respond and did not fully stretch out under pressure.
The Veterinary Officer reported that TAIHANG SCENERY made an abnormal respiratory noise after the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 JOLLY JUMPER (K110) K C Leung Near the 750 Metres was taken wider by TAIHANG SCENERY.
JOLLY JUMPER then raced wide and without cover thereafter.
Near the 350 Metres was bumped by VULCANUS which shifted out.
After the event, K C Leung reported that his mount, which was having its first race start on the All Weather surface, did not appreciate the kickback.
Horse No 11 FUN N GLORY (G003) P N Wong Noted to have blood in the mouth on arrival at the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and found suitable to race.
After the event, Apprentice P N Wong stated that her mount raced tight in the middle stages to the inside of GIMME FIVE but did not run on when placed under pressure in the Home Straight.
She added, in her opinion, FUN N GLORY may be better suited on the turf surface.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 GIMME FIVE (J099) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.
Near the 750 Metres was crowded by RISING FORCE (R Kingscote) which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
R Kingscote was reprimanded.

Favourite Rising Force settled one off with cover in third, hit the lead 250m out and won going away. It was a smart debut performance. Patch Of Stars ran on nicely to finish a clear second after a patient ride fourth last from gate nine. It was a good run on this surface after flashing potential in his opening four starts on turf. Punted late Gimme Five ran on steadily for third after making his run just off the eventual winner. He was able to back up a near win when trying the dirt 1,200m two runs ago. Monta Frutta came from towards the rear for fourth. He should find his mark shortly in this grade on this surface. Colourful Winner gradually faded after clearing Fortune Warrior to lead 850m out from a tricky gate. He's gone okay in both dirt 1,200m runs from nine outings this term. Vulcanus got going late to finish next best after making his run two from the rear. Fortune Warrior didn't offer much when asked for more after handing up the lead to track the leader on the fence. It was a disappointing effort despite money for him late in betting.
