Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (535) - SPOONBILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 GLORIOUS EXPERT (J028) L Ferraris Shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between MODEST GENTLEMAN and PATCH OF WATCH which shifted out.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 2 ROMANTIC NOVELIST (J167) J Orman A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) M Chadwick Bumped on jumping and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between GLORIOUS EXPERT and WIND SPEEDER which shifted in.
Approaching the 950 Metres improved quickly behind FALCON COURT.
When being shifted to the inside of FALCON COURT to improve, MODEST GENTLEMAN was steadied when FALCON COURT shifted to the inside of YEAH BUDDY.
M Chadwick, rider of MODEST GENTLEMAN, was advised to exercise more care to ensure that there is comfortable racing room where he is improving into.
Approaching the winning post shifted out, resulting in its rider M Chadwick having to stop riding and straighten his mount.
Horse No 5 YEAH BUDDY (J430) K C Leung For some distance after the 800 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from PATCH OF WATCH.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 THE KHAN (H489) Y L Chung Jumped only fairly.
Leaving the 800 Metres, when racing keenly, improved into a tight run between THE PRIME and FLYING PHANTOM.
A short distance later THE KHAN was steadied when crowded by FLYING PHANTOM which raced tight to the inside of WIND SPEEDER.
Briefly held up on the Home Turn.
Horse No 7 FALCON COURT (J056) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the winning post was hampered when taken wider by MODEST GENTLEMAN.
Horse No 9 PATCH OF WATCH (H476) P N Wong Shifted out at the start, was bumped and became unbalanced.
In the middle stages raced keenly when positioned outside the lead.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 SUPER JOY (G251) B Thompson After the event, B Thompson advised that his mount hung out throughout the event.
Horse No 11 COOL BLUE (H011) H Bentley From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the event, H Bentley reported that his mount travelled only fairly during the race and failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Yeah Buddy enjoyed a lovely run one off from better than midfield and reeled in the favourite Patch Of Watch 100m out for a first win at his 14th start. He relished a downgrade and return to the dirt 1,200m of a fourth and sixth in two earlier runs. Patch Of Watch found one too good after moving to the lead upon straightening following a pace-stalking run. It was another fine effort. Sensationally-backed Flying Phantom rallied to finish a distant third after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was a good effort at his first start on the surface. Modest Gentleman stayed on for fourth after a prominent run on the fence. It was another pleasing effort over the surface and trip following a second two starts ago. Falcon Court ran on steadily for fifth after a rails run from midfield. He was at his best when striking a wet track on this surface. Wind Speeder made some ground with two wider out to pick up a minor cheque after a wide with cover trip travelling midfield from gate 10. It was another honest performance without winning this campaign. The Khan came from last after a slow start to finish next best.
