Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (521) - CANAL HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 M UNICORN (G466) H Bowman Near the 1400 Metres was steadied when crowded by TEST FOR LOVE (R Kingscote) which shifted in when not clear.
R Kingscote was reprimanded.
When questioned, H Bowman stated that after being crowded in the early stages M UNICORN settled further back than what had been intended.
He said entering the Back Straight when he was of the opinion the pace of the event was not genuine he elected to allow M UNICORN to commence a forward move near the 800 Metres which resulted in M UNICORN being able to obtain the lead near the 600 Metres and sustaining its run to win the event.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 EXCELLENCE VALUE (K093) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly, shifted in and made contact with FLYING FORTRESS.
Horse No 3 SAMARKAND (H070) E C W Wong A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 A AMERIC TE SPECSO (H037) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 6 LOVERO (H451) Y L Chung After the event, Y L Chung stated that after making use of his mount to go forward in the early stages from the outside barrier LOVERO gave ground when under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 TEST FOR LOVE (K083) R Kingscote Jumped awkwardly.
Horse No 8 DEVAS TWELVE (H435) K De Melo Near the 200 Metres rider K De Melo dropped his whip.
Horse No 9 QUANTUM PATCH (H166) K Teetan Approaching the 600 Metres became unbalanced when crowded between TEST FOR LOVE which was racing tight to the inside of RISING FROM ASHES and STURDY RUBY which shifted out before being corrected by its rider.
Horse No 10 STURDY RUBY (H207) M L Yeung Held up making the Home Turn.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 FLYING FORTRESS (J445) H Bentley Bumped at the start.
For some distance after the 1200 Metres raced keenly and got its head up.
For some distance near the 350 Metres was held up for clear running behind DEVAS TWELVE.
After the event, H Bentley stated that from an inside barrier his mount commenced well and was able to take up a slightly more forward position than intended.

Horse No 12 SURE JOYFUL (G125) M Chadwick From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No MORGAN SUCCESS (K203) J Orman Withdrawn on 18.3.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (acute dermatitis) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter LOVERO.
Before being allowed to race again, MORGAN SUCCESS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

M Unicorn was sent forward from fourth last at the 800m to hit the front 600m out and kept finding to ring up a sixth career win and fifth over this course and distance from 26 starts. He had put the writing on the wall when nearly winning last start. Punted late Sturdy Ruby ran on well for second after a rails run from midfield. He is holding his condition well following a win last start in an easier grade. Excellence Value stayed on third best after following the move of the winner when rushing to second 550m out following a midfield run. It was another good run carrying a few pounds more following a win 14 days ago. Post-time favourite Flying Fortress stayed on well for fourth after getting dragged back to midfield on the fence upon straightening. It was another good run following an eye-catching second down in Class Four last start. A Americ Te Specso got going late for fifth after making his run second last from gate nine. It wasn't a bad effort with a step up to 1,650m by the Valley 1,200m specialist. Quantum Patch ran on steadily after a rails run from behind midfield to just miss fifth prize money.
