Race Six : (520) - THE HONG KONG FOOTBALL CLUB CENTENARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 4 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 SERGEANT PEPPER (E432) M L Yeung After the event, M L Yeung stated that the instructions were to hold a forward position but when unable to cross runners in the early stages his mount raced wide and without cover throughout the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 NORTHERN FIRE BALL (J488) E C W Wong After the event, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to hold a more forward position but after jumping only fairly his mount did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
Horse No 4 PARENTS' LOVE (H405) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 FUN N FUN TOGETHER (J232) L Ferraris Between the 150 Metres and the 100 Metres raced tight to the inside of PLENTIFUL (M F Poon) which lay in.
Near the 100 Metres FUN N FUN TOGETHER was then steadied to avoid PLENTIFUL which continued to shift in.
M F Poon was reprimanded and advised that he is required to make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting in when not clear.
Horse No 7 PLENTIFUL (G400) M F Poon Bumped at the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 SUPER SIXTY (J071) A Badel Bumped shortly after the start.
Leaving the 600 Metres was taken wider when PLENTIFUL shifted to the outside of FUN N FUN TOGETHER.
Horse No 9 NIGHT PUROSANGUE (J510) B Thompson Bumped at the start.
Horse No 10 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) K Teetan Crowded on jumping.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 11 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) A Hamelin When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer W K Mo stated that at its most recent start the horse was disadvantaged when it jumped only fairly and the rider was obliged to make use of SPICY SPANGLE in the early stages.
He said tonight SPICY SPANGLE was advantaged by drawing an inside barrier and being able to trail the lead without being pressured to do so.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 NOTTHESILLYONE (J383) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with SUPER SIXTY.

Spicy Spangle capitalised on a box-seat run to overhaul long-time leader Parents' Love in the concluding stages for a second win from 11 outings this term. Parents' Love was collared late after skipping clear by nearly three lengths 200m out leading 800m out following a sluggish start. Country Dancer finished very well toward the inside for third after making his run at the rear from gate 11. He has been itching in his past three starts to add to two earlier Class Five wins this term. Super Sixty ran on nicely down the outside for fourth after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. It was another good run with a step back in distance following a last-start win over 1,200m. Favourite Plentiful ran on steadily to finish next best after peeling three wide 400m out following a one-off trip from midfield. It was another positive effort carrying 10 pounds more following a win. Harmony Fire just held his ground after a rails run from better than midfield. He's struggling to recapture top form this season. Night Purosangue made some ground without threatening from towards the rear. He's still a work in progress.
