Race Four : (499) - PENG CHAU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 FIND MY LOVE (H110) H Bowman Bumped on jumping.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 BOWSER (H460) M Chadwick Near the 100 Metres was directed to the inside of NEBRASKAN to continue into clear running.
Horse No 3 LUCKY ARCHANGEL (E385) M F Poon H T Mo (THE DOUBLE EAGLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that shortly after the start whilst riding his mount along he permitted THE DOUBLE EAGLE to shift out when insufficiently clear of TELECOM DRAGON, resulting in TELECOM DRAGON being crowded out onto LUCKY ARCHANGEL and resulting in LUCKY ARCHANGEL having to be checked when crowded between TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR and TELECOM DRAGON.
H T Mo was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
After the event, M F Poon stated that the instructions were to endeavour to hold an on-pace position but after being crowded shortly after the start his mount was unable to maintain a more forward position.
Horse No 4 GOLDEN FRIENDSHIP (K106) L Ferraris Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Horse No 5 TELECOM DRAGON (H322) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was crowded between LUCKY ARCHANGEL and THE DOUBLE EAGLE which shifted out.
Near the 550 Metres was bumped by KA YING POWER.
Near the 350 Metres was steadied and shifted to the outside of FIND MY LOVE to continue into clear running.
Passing the 200 Metres was shifted to the inside of GLORY CLOUD to continue into clear running.
Horse No 6 CHILL MASTER (J319) J Orman Jumped awkwardly.
Making the first turn got its head up when racing keenly.
Horse No 7 NEBRASKAN (J304) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 GLORY CLOUD (H320) B Avdulla Shifted out at the start and was bumped.
Hung out making the first turn.
B Avdulla was found guilty of a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 800 Metres (see KA YING POWER).
After the event, B Avdulla stated that his mount was disadvantaged by racing wide and without cover from the 600 Metres and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 NEW POWER (H325) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly and shortly afterwards was bumped by GLORY CLOUD which shifted out.
Passing the 50 Metres was momentarily crowded between NEBRASKAN and FIND MY LOVE which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.
Horse No 10 KA YING POWER (H169) L Hewitson B Avdulla (GLORY CLOUD) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of KA YING POWER, resulting in KA YING POWER having to be checked to avoid GLORY CLOUD and losing its running.
After considering the evidence, the Stewards found Jockey Avdulla to be guilty of the charge but having regard to the circumstances of the incident and the low range of carelessness B Avdulla was reprimanded.
After the event, L Hewitson stated that although his mount was crowded near the 900 Metres it was still disappointing in its failure to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

Horse No 11 THE DOUBLE EAGLE (J342) H T Mo H T Mo pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference shortly after the start (see LUCKY ARCHANGEL).

The performance of THE DOUBLE EAGLE, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, THE DOUBLE EAGLE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 12 TRIUMPHANT WARRIOR (H430) K Teetan Near the 1150 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of NEBRASKAN.

Find My Love settled midfield on the fence before moving into the clear 200m out and running on strongly to win going away 20m out, bagging his third win at his 31st start and first from two Valley 1,200m runs. He was a very well rated runner down in Class Four. Nebraskan found one too good after claiming the lead 100m out following a speed-tracking run from gate 12. It was his clearly his best effort with blinkers on from six runs over the Valley 1,200m. Thumped in betting, Triumphant Warrior rattled home late near the outside for third after straightening third last along the inside from gate 11. He's a winner waiting to happen with eye-catching efforts to place from wide draws in back-to-back runs over the Valley 1,200m. Early favourite Bowser found a few too good after a prominent run on the fence. The quick backup failed to materialise after a runner-up effort last Wednesday. New Power just held his ground after a one-out, oneback run. It was another honest effort. Golden Friendship was on his tippy toes over the last 100m after dictating the run from gate one. He's still a work in progress.
