Recap by phillip woo

Punted late Romantic Son sat third in the run one off with cover from gate five and came through the middle to just deny Beauty Alliance by a lip. Beauty Infinity did everything right but get the win after rushing to the lead 260m out following a prominent run on the fence. Nordic Dragon found a couple just too good after a patient ride fourth last from a tricky gate. He has produced mixed results in seven outings this term but is a well-rated runner off his current mark. Golden Empire stayed on well for fourth without threatening the top three after working forward three wide from gate 10 to sit second 900m out. He's given a good sight in two runs at this level after dipping into Class Four for a win in January. Young Emperor ran on late near the outside for fifth after a one-off trip from midfield. It was a better run after failing to lift last start following a win on his local debut. Plunged late in betting, Capital Legend produced a grinding effort along the inside after a rails run from just worse than midfield. Favourite Sunny Da Best never produced a yelp travelling third last on his course debut.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (482) - THE KWOON CHUNG BUS 60TH ANNIVERSARY CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 YOUNG EMPEROR (K011) H Bowman After the 250 Metres was steadied when crowded between ROMANTIC SON (H Bentley) and NORDIC DRAGON (A Hamelin), both of which shifted ground slightly.

Both H Bentley and A Hamelin were advised to exercise more care.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 NORDIC DRAGON (G467) A Hamelin Making the first turn hung in, resulting in its rider A Hamelin having to correct his mount.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

When questioned, A Hamelin stated that his mount hung in throughout the event.

He added that in the Home Straight he was placed at a disadvantage when NORDIC DRAGON continued to hang in and proved difficult to ride out.

Horse No 3 FRANCIS MEYNELL (J394) M Chadwick A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 SUNNY DA BEST (J118) R Moore After the event, R Moore stated that his mount jumped only fairly and despite riding it along was unable to take up a more forward position.

He said SUNNY DA BEST did not travel well throughout the event and responded only fairly when placed under pressure in the Home Straight which he attributed to the racing surface in his opinion being loose due to the race being run in light rain.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 ROMANTIC SON (J537) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 TAI VICTORY (K124) L Ferraris Jumped only fairly.

From a wide barrier was then shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 BEAUTY INFINITY (H377) A Badel Lay out over the concluding stages.

When questioned, A Badel stated that his instructions were to allow his mount to settle to ensure that it finished the race off.

He said from barrier 2 BEAUTY INFINITY jumped well and obtained a more forward position than expected without having to be pressured to do so.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 MIGHTY COMMANDER (J360) J Orman Jumped awkwardly, made contact with the right side of its barrier and lost ground.

Near the 600 Metres was briefly tightened by SUNNY DA BEST which shifted in and away from NORDIC DRAGON.

MIGHTY COMMANDER then continued to race tight to the inside of SUNNY DA BEST for a short distance thereafter.
