Recap by phillip woo

Following a wide trip with cover from behind midfield, Golden Rise just defeated Prime Mortar after rushing to the lead 60m out for a second win from 18 starts and first from six starts this term. Prime Mortar ran on nicely to finish a close second after a one-off trip from midfield. It was not a surprise result after he filled the frame in three of seven other starts this term. Young Horizon came on nicely widest out to fill a placing after settling last from gate 12. He did place twice off higher marks earlier in the term. Silver Spurs found a few too good after prompting the pace between runners. It was a return to form over his preferred Valley 1,200m. Mega Bonus weakened late after dictating the run from gate one. He appears from his past two starts to be close to a rating bottom. Lucky Blessing was next best after getting planted three wide without cover prompting the pace from gate seven. Colourful Winner just held his ground after a rails run from midfield. Smiling Emperor made some ground near the inside after getting held up for a run until the 120m following a patient ride. It was a better effort following throat surgery.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (480) - KWOON CHUNG MACAU LIMOUSINE RENTAL SERVICES HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 GOLDEN RISE (H242) R Moore Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 PRIME MORTAR (G328) J Orman The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in as they were of the view that an incident which occurred over the final 100 Metres placed some doubt as to whether GOLDEN RISE should be declared the winner.

Subsequently Trainer A S Cruz and Jockey J Orman, rider and trainer of PRIME MORTAR, viewed the official patrol films to ascertain if there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection.

When connections declined to lodge a protest/objection and the Steward were satisfied that there were not sufficient grounds to do so due to the minor contact between GOLDEN RISE and PRIME MORTAR and having regard to the manner in which both horses finished the race off, weighed-in was declared on the numbers semaphored by the Judge.

In the middle stages raced keenly.

Over the final 100 Metres was taken in by GOLDEN RISE and near the 50 Metres brushed with that runner.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 STAR FIGURE (K215) H Bowman Shortly after the start was bumped and became unbalanced.

Over the final 100 Metres could not be ridden out when COLOURFUL WINNER (M L Yeung) shifted in.

Horse No 6 COLOURFUL WINNER (J312) M L Yeung Jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start was crowded between STAR FIGURE and SILVER SPURS which shifted out after making contact with MACANESE MASTER.

Approaching the 1000 Metres improved to the inside of MACANESE MASTER (B Thompson) which then a short distance later shifted in when not clear, resulting in COLOURFUL WINNER being steadied.

B Thompson was severely reprimanded.

Horse No 7 SPICY SPANGLE (J087) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 8 LUCKY BLESSING (K073) Y L Chung Approaching the 50 Metres was eased when crowded between SILVER SPURS and PRIME MORTAR which, after shifting in and away from GOLDEN RISE, was then taken in slightly by that runner.
