Race Nine : (474) - YAN TIN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 2000Meters
Horse No 2 TALENTS AMBITION (J136) B Shinn A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 AGENDA (K160) M F Poon Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 4 CAMBRIDGE (K085) J Moreira From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Over the final 100 Metres was held up for clear running between TALENTS AMBITION and SPANISH FLAME.
Horse No 5 THE BEST PEACH (H139) J McDonald Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Between the 200 Metres and the 100 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned behind TALENTS AMBITION.
Horse No 6 NAVAL FORCE (K158) T Marquand After the event, T Marquand stated that his mount enjoyed a comfortable run during the race but did not finish the race off when under pressure in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 7 PRAY FOR MIR (J245) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 SHARPEN BRIGHT (H276) K Teetan B Avdulla (ENTHRALLED) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that leaving the 200 Metres he shifted his mount to the outside of DEFINITIVE when not clear of SHARPEN BRIGHT, resulting in SHARPEN BRIGHT having to be steadied to avoid the heels of ENTHRALLED.
B Avdulla was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.
Horse No 11 ENTHRALLED (K252) B Avdulla Bumped at the start.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
B Avdulla pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference leaving the 200 Metres (see SHARPEN BRIGHT).
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 SPANISH FLAME (K013) H Bentley Shortly after the start was bumped by ENTHRALLED.
In the early stages raced keenly.
Near the 1500 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from THE BEST PEACH.
Horse No 13 STELLAR GRANDE (J189) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly and then was badly crowded on jumping between PRAY FOR MIR and THE BEST PEACH, both of which shifted ground.
When the pace steadied near the 1500 Metres raced keenly for some distance thereafter.
In the Home Straight hung in and proved difficult to ride out.
Horse No 14 MIDORI GIANT (K095) C Williams After the event, C Williams stated that the intention was to find cover.
He said when caught wide in the early stages and when the pace of the event eased after the 1600 Metres he allowed MIDORI GIANT to stride forward to avoid covering additional ground.
He added, in his opinion, this may not have suited the horse.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse's trachea.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 FAMILY JEWEL (J390) H Bowman Withdrawn on 27.2.24 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever).
Before being allowed to race again, FAMILY JEWEL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 1 ROMANTIC THOR (K012) L Ferraris Withdrawn on 1.3.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right hind).

Following a patient ride at the rear from gate 11, the well-backed Enthralled came with a ducking-and-weaving run near the inside to just overhaul Pray For Mir in the concluding stages for a first win at his third local start. Pray For Mir found one just too good after reclaiming the lead from Definitive 300m out. He had no problem handling a rise in trip after a near win last start over 1,800m. Early favourite Sharpen Bright stayed on third best after a box-seat run. It was another honest performance. Definitive had to settle for fourth after assuming the lead 1,100m out from gate 14. Specked late in betting, Spanish Flame kept coming late for fifth after making his run one from the rear. It was a better performance with a rise in trip. Post-time favourite Midori Giant gradually faded after moving to second near the 900m following a wide trip without cover from midfield. He had an excuse. Talents Ambition only plodded after getting posted wide until slotting one off travelling midfield 1,000m out.
