Recap by phillip woo

After a prominent run one off the fence, early favourite Serangoon kept coming late to take control 50m out for a second win from 24 starts and first from five starts over the Valley 2,200m. Hakka Radiance stayed on nicely for second after briefly leading 150m out following a box-seat run. He did produce a pleasing fifth from a wide draw at his first attempt over the Valley 2,200m in November. Good Good grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate seven. It was a good performance carrying five pounds more following a 2,000m win. Management Folks was hitting his best stride late with two wider out to just miss a placing after settling one-off with cover from behind midfield. He rarely produces a bad run over this course and distance. Joyful Prosperity ran on steadily for fifth without threatening the top four after making his run on the fence in midfield. He produced a better run but has found things harder carrying top weight in his past two starts. Fortune Superstar made some ground late without threatening after making his run third last from a wide draw. It wasn't a bad effort down in Class Four.

Racing Incident Report

Race Two : (458) - YUK SAU HANDICAP - Class 4 - 2200Meters

Horse No 1 JOYFUL PROSPERITY (H213) D McDonogh Jumped only fairly and then was badly crowded between SERANGOON and HAKKA RADIANCE, both of which shifted ground.

Passing the 50 Metres was shifted to the outside of GOOD GOOD to continue into clear running.

Horse No 2 FORTUNE SUPERSTAR (J210) H Bowman After the event, H Bowman confirmed that from a wide barrier he was instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner in the early stages.

Trainer M Newnham confirmed the instructions and said such instructions were issued as FORTUNE SUPERSTAR was stepping up to 2200 Metres for the first time tonight and to offset the wide barrier.

Horse No 3 BRIGHT INHERITANCE (J215) A Atzeni Jumped only fairly.

Near the 2000 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from FORTUNE SUPERSTAR.

After the event, A Atzeni stated that from the outside barrier and with his mount stepping up in distance he was obliged to race back in the field.

He added when under pressure in the Home Straight BRIGHT INHERITANCE did not respond to his riding and found it difficult to make up ground due to the middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 AFFORDABLE (J242) R Moore Jumped only fairly.

After the event, R Moore stated that his mount travelled only fairly during the event and did not finish the race off when under pressure in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
