After coming off heels for a clear run 150m out after straightening in the box seat, Son Pak Fu got up in the last stride to deny favourite Copartner Prance by a nose for a seventh win over the Valley 1,200m from 30 starts. He appreciated a return to his favourite Valley track after producing a lone fourth from four Sha Tin runs and he was getting 12 pounds from the runner-up. Copartner Prance was just pipped late after heading straight to the front from gate four in the five-horse field. He lost nothing in defeat after winning six of seven prior starts over the Valley 1,200m. Brave Star kept on well for third after moving closer near the 600m to punch the breeze in second. It was a good run up in grade off a light weight, but he does love the Valley 1,200m. Raging Blizzard only beat the struggling Taj Dragon after making his run at the rear with money for him late in betting. He requires a stronger pace. Taj Dragon never landed a blow after making his run second last about four lengths off the leader for the most part. He had to carry top weight and didn't have the race run to suit.
