Race Seven : (433) - MARIGOLD HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1800Meters
Horse No 1 TOP GUN (J249) L Ferraris A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 MARKWIN (J420) A Badel When questioned, A Badel stated that his instructions were to settle where comfortable but had anticipated to be slightly more forward.
He said from a wide barrier he elected to shift MARKWIN behind runners to avoid racing wide.
He added from the 800 Metres he commenced a forward move as he felt it would be difficult to make up ground in the Home Straight as the pace of the event was run on standard time.
Horse No 4 STEPS AHEAD (J263) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 LO RIDER (K161) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 PACKING HURRICANE (H137) K Teetan Near the 900 Metres lay in and was steadied away from MEGA FORCE.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 8 FAMILY JEWEL (J390) H Bowman Jumped awkwardly and shortly after the start was steadied when crowded between SIMPLE HEDGE and LIVEANDLETLIVE which shifted out and away from SUPREME AGILITY.
For a short distance near the 400 Metres was held up for clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 10 LIVEANDLETLIVE (K156) H Bentley Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced.
After the event, H Bentley advised that his instructions were to lead today.
Trainer A S Cruz confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 11 STELLAR GRANDE (J189) M Chadwick From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride out.
Horse No 13 NAMJONG KINGDOM (K015) H Doyle In the early stages raced keenly, got its head up and refused to settle.
Horse No 14 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) A Hamelin Shortly after the start was crowded between FAMILY JEWEL and STEPS AHEAD which shifted in slightly.

Steps Ahead tracked the speed from gate eight, wore down Liveandletlive to lead 250m out and prevailed for a third win from nine starts. Lo Rider was making inroads late to finish a close second after a box-seat run. He's shown natural improvement. Liveandletlive wouldn't go down without a fight after straightening nearly two lengths on top setting even fractions in front from gate five. The change in tactics and step up to 1,800m nearly worked the oracle at just his third local start. Family Jewel ran on well to just miss a placing after having to wait for a gap to appear 300m out travelling five back and one off the fence. It was another genuine performance. Naval Force plugged on all right following a rails run from midfield. It was a better effort at his third local start. Punted late Markwin peaked on his run 100m out after taking off 600m out ridden near last from gate 13. He didn't get the race run to suit.
