Racing Incident Report
Race Two : (419) - DIAMOND HILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 CAMP FIRE (J259) K De Melo Shortly after the start was crowded between CHEER FOR SOUTH and SUPER JOY which shifted out.
After the event, K De Melo stated that his mount did not respond to his riding in the early stages and as a result settled at the tail of the field.
He said CAMP FIRE did not appreciate racing on the All Weather Track due to its rating of Wet Slow and as a result did not finish the race off in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 SKY PROPHET (J095) H Bowman After the event, H Bowman reported that he was given no specific instructions where to settle his mount other than to avoid racing behind other runners as SKY PROPHET had resented the kickback at its last start.
He said when SKY PROPHET showed good pace in the early stages he was able to position his mount outside the lead, however, was obliged to race wide and without cover.
He added under pressure in the Home Straight SKY PROPHET did not respond to his riding which he attributed to the Wet Slow track conditions.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 3 SUPER ELITE (H247) K Teetan K Teetan was warned in relation to raising his whip arm above shoulder height on one occasion over the concluding stages.
Horse No 4 SONIC BOOM (H144) M Chadwick For some distance near the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving into a narrow run between SKY PROPHET and SUPER ELITE.
Horse No 5 SPEEDY SMARTIE (H108) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 FLYING DRAGON (E360) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 9 CHEER FOR SOUTH (H178) M F Poon Sent for sampling post-race.

Punted late Patch Of Watch tracked the speed from gate 10, claimed the lead on the final turn and kept on gamely when scooting clear by nearly five lengths 100m out for a maiden win at his 14th start. Cheer For South ran on well to finish a clear-cut second after a one-off trip from midfield. He's close to a win. Post-time favourite Speedy Smartie ran on steadily to just take third after a rails run from better than midfield. It was another honest performance despite a return to the all-weather track. Early favourite Sonic Boom could only manage fourth after a rails run from midfield. He had his chance but has finished in the frame in each of his three dirt 1,200m runs. Wind Speeder got going late after a rails run from behind midfield to just snatch fifth. It was another positive showing despite a switch in surfaces. Super Joy made good ground late settling second last after a sluggish start. It was a better showing on his past couple of runs following a stable change. Super Elite gradually faded after a prominent run wide without cover until the 700m. He had an excuse.
