Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Falcon Court settled one-off better than midfield and ran on nicely near the outside to take control 100m out for a first win at his 17th start. He had put the writing on the wall in two earlier runs over the dirt 1,200m. Modest Gentleman stayed on well for second after a prominent run on the fence from gate one. It was a better run on his return to the all-weather track. Diamond Soars kept battling away to hold third after chasing the speed on the fence from gate three. He can breakthrough at any moment with thirds in two of his past three starts on this surface. In his best effort from five starts this term, Double Bingo ran on well to just take fourth after making his run three wide with cover travelling midfield. He was likely suited by the wet track. Ever Smart whacked on one-paced after pressing forward three wide from better than midfield to sit third without cover 700m out from gate 11. It wasn't a bad effort at his first start over the dirt 1,200m. Timestorm made some ground late near the inside to just miss the frame after settling four back on the fence. It was an OK dirt debut.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (418) - DIAMOND HILL HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 ISLAND GOLDEN (H018) H Bentley After the event, H Bentley reported that his mount did not respond to his riding in the early stages and became detached from the field.

He attributed this to ISLAND GOLDEN racing on the All Weather surface when it was rated Wet Slow A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of ISLAND GOLDEN, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, ISLAND GOLDEN will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 3 MODEST GENTLEMAN (G352) M Chadwick For some distance near the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of EVER SMART.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 SMART LEADER (B456) K De Melo Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 EVER SMART (J179) A Badel Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 7 DAY DAY VICTORY (J423) L Ferraris After the event, L Ferraris confirmed that from a wide barrier his instructions were to take up a forward position.

He added that, in his opinion, DAY DAY VICTORY would be better suited racing over 1000 Metres, however, he was concerned with the horse's action.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its left front leg.

Before being allowed to race again, DAY DAY VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 8 FUNG (J101) P N Wong After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between DIAMOND SOARS and DOUBLE BINGO, both of which shifted ground.

After the event, Apprentice P N Wong reported that the instructions were to take up a forward position but after being crowded shortly after the start her mount did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position which she attributed to the All Weather surface being rated Wet Slow A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of FUNG, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, FUNG will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 TIMESTORM (G109) H Bowman Near the 300 Metres was shifted to the outside of VERBIER to continue into clear running.
