Racing Incident Report
Race One : (407) - TVB LOK SIN TONG CHARITY CORNER HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 LUCKY MAN (J315) Z Purton In the early stages raced keenly and when being crossed by REGENCY HAPPY STAR (A Badel) approaching the 1200 Metres got its head up when that runner shifted in when not quite clear.
A Badel was advised to ensure that he is two lengths clear when shifting ground.
LUCKY MAN then continued to race keenly throughout the early and middle stages.
After the event, Z Purton stated that his mount raced too keenly in the early stages and raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 FIGHT TIME (H409) H Bowman Between the 350 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up before being shifted to the inside of JOYFUL LIFE to secure clear running.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 THE KHAN (H489) C Y Ho From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
In the early stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 1200 Metres got its head up and refused to settle.
Near the 800 Metres, when continuing to race keenly, shifted out when being steadied away from FLYING PHANTOM.
THE KHAN then raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 4 IVICTORIAM (J226) H Bentley Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 5 JOYFUL LIFE (H426) E C W Wong For some distance near the 500 Metres was taken wider by REGENCY HAPPY STAR which shifted out to improve.
In this incident JOYFUL LIFE was bumped by REGENCY HAPPY STAR.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 SPECIAL HEDGE (H354) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 SO AWESOME (D258) P N Wong In the middle stages raced keenly.
Between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres was held up for clear running.
For some distance after the 200 Metres then raced in restricted room between JOYFUL LIFE and LAPRAS which shifted out slightly.
When questioned, Apprentice P N Wong stated that from the outside barrier her instructions were to ride her mount with cover in the early stages.
She said after commencing awkwardly SO AWESOME was shifted across behind runners in the early stages when positioned at the rear of the field.
Assistant Trainer W H Ip representing Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions were to obtain cover but advised that SO AWESOME settled further back in the field than expected when it commenced awkwardly.
Noted to have blood in the mouth after the race.
Horse No 9 GANGNAM STAR (H326) K Teetan From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Trainer P C Ng confirmed that from a wide barrier the instructions were to ride the horse in a conservative manner in the early stages.
Horse No 11 LAPRAS (H374) L Ferraris Near the 1000 Metres raced in restricted room between LUCKY MAN which was racing tight to the inside of JOYFUL LIFE and GO HERO which shifted out slightly.
Near the 50 Metres was bumped by CALIFORNIA ICON which shifted out.
Horse No 13 REGENCY HAPPY STAR (H248) A Badel For some distance near the 500 Metres was shifted to the outside of CALIFORNIA ICON to obtain clear running and as a result made contact with JOYFUL LIFE.
Lay out over the final 200 Metres.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 14 CALIFORNIA ICON (H404) Y L Chung Shifted out near the 50 Metres and was bumped.

Punted late Special Hedge bided his time fourth last from gate 10 and responded nicely with two wider out to get up in the concluding stages for a second win from 19 starts. Fight Time came on nicely late through the inside to finish a close second after a rails run from behind midfield. He appreciated the downgrade. Favourite Regency Happy Star was collared late after moving to the lead 200m out following a box-seat run. It was another effort. Flying Phantom came up one-paced over the last 100m after looming a chance 250m out following a wide with cover trip from midfield. He's close to a rating bottom. So Awesome made noticeable ground late through the middle for fifth after making his run third last near the inside from gate 14. He's a winner waiting to happen from a better draw. Lapras kept on rather one-paced after a handy run near the inside. He's shown a bit more spark in his past two starts.
