Racing Incident Report
Race Eight : (405) - YUE MAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 LOVERO (H451) Y L Chung When questioned, Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to find cover as the horse races best in this position.
He said as a result in the early stages he allowed SOLEIL FIGHTER to cross LOVERO in order to comply with his instructions.
Horse No 2 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly and was bumped by DEFINITIVE which shifted in.
Horse No 3 I CAN (H381) A Atzeni Noted to have lost its right hind plate after the race.
Horse No 4 SOLEIL FIGHTER (J127) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 GALAXY WITNESS (G110) H Bowman Jumped only fairly, shifted out and made contact with GLORIOUS JOURNEY.
Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of H Bowman, 7th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 6 DEFINITIVE (K037) K Teetan Shifted in at the start and was bumped.
Noted to have sustained a cut to the left hind leg after the race.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 IVY LEAGUE (H116) L Hewitson In the Home Straight hung in and proved difficult to ride out.
After the event, L Hewitson stated that with the pace of the event being run outside of standard time, near the 750 Metres his mount commenced to race keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of I CAN.
He said as a result he was obliged to shift to the outside of I CAN which resulted in IVY LEAGUE racing wide and without cover thereafter.
He added over the final 200 Metres he could not be fully test his mount when he was obliged to correct IVY LEAGUE to prevent it from shifting in.
A warning was placed on the racing manners of IVY LEAGUE.
Horse No 8 SETANTA (G095) L Ferraris From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 9 C YEAH (K034) M L Yeung From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 QUANTUM PATCH (H166) C Y Ho Slow to begin.
Near the 200 Metres was checked when crowded between I CAN which was taken in by IVY LEAGUE when that runner hung in despite the efforts of its rider and DEFINITIVE which, after shifting out and away from LOVERO (Y L Chung), was then taken out by that runner.
Y L Chung was advised to exercise more care.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 11 GLORIOUS JOURNEY (J137) M F Poon Bumped on jumping.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 12 COMET SPLENDIDO (G071) H Bentley From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres.

Favourite Soleil Fighter kept up a strong gallop after turning the final bend two lengths on top for a second win from his past four starts over the Valley 1,650m. Definitive produce a game effort to hold on for second after a speed-tracking run from gate seven. He proved an upset win last start was not a fluke. Ivy League made it close for second after improving three wide at the 550m following a one-off trip from midfield. He's close to a win with placings twice over this course and distance from his past three starts. I Can plugged on reasonably well to just miss a placing after a one-out, one-back run. He appears from his past couple of starts to be on or near his mark following a win. Lovero was close away in fifth after a box-seat run. He needed the outing off a 63-day break. Punted late, Quantum Patch gave up the chase when losing his momentum following a check 200m out after a rails run from midfield. He had an excuse. After firming late in betting, Galaxy Witness only plodded over the last 100m after making his bid 500m out from near the back. He requires a stronger pace.
