Recap by phillip woo

After moving to the lead 100m out after settling one off and better than midfield from gate five, favourite Hayday just prevailed for a third win from 17 starts. He was able to build on a neck second last start. Super Sixty ran on nicely for second after improving to travel behind midfield on the fence 800m out. He's a winner waiting to happen. Motoman had nothing more to offer at the 50m after cruising to the front 200m out following a one-out, one-back run. The big weight took its toll. Punted late, Excellent Peers just got home for fourth after turning the final bend three from the rear. He's given a good sight in three consecutive runs and can break through shortly. Telecom Power ran on nicely widest out to just miss a first four spot after a patient ride second last from gate 10. Inno Century ran on without threatening after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was a better effort with a switch to the Valley. Oriental Tycoon just held his ground after a rails run from midfield. He will be looking forward to Class Five. Solar River was stopping 100m out after rushing forward to track the speed.

Race Two : (399) - WAI YIP HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 MOTOMAN (J436) A Atzeni Shifted in at the start and bumped HAYDAY.

Horse No 2 HAYDAY (H321) M F Poon Bumped on jumping.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 INNO CENTURY (K113) C Y Ho After the 700 Metres shifted out when being steadied away from HAYDAY.

Horse No 4 EXCELLENT PEERS (G033) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

After the 700 Metres was steadied to avoid INNO CENTURY when that runner shifted out after being awkwardly placed close to HAYDAY which gave ground after being crossed by SPICY KNUCKLES.

Horse No 6 COLONEL (D090) L Ferraris After the event, L Ferraris reported that his intention was to lead but when SPICY KNUCKLES and SOLAR RIVER went forward in the early stages he was obliged to allow those runners to cross when the pace of the event was being run inside of standard time.

He added as a result COLONEL did not finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight and he was of the opinion that COLONEL races best when being able to dictate the lead.

Trainer M Newnham confirmed the advice of Jockey Ferraris.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 SOLAR RIVER (J308) C L Chau Bumped at the start.

After the 200 Metres C L Chau dropped his left rein for a number of strides.

After the event, C L Chau reported that from his wide barrier he was obliged to race wide and without cover in the early stages.

He said as a result after the 800 Metres he allowed his mount to stride forward to race outside the leader to avoid having to race wide.

He added as a consequence SOLAR RIVER was left without a finishing effort in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 SPICY KNUCKLES (H463) M Chadwick After the event, M Chadwick reported that his instructions were to go forward and lead if the pace was not too strong.
