Race Seven : (382) - BOCCIA 1650M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 ARIEL (G223) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 SHANGHAI STYLE (J093) H Bowman Raced wide and without cover until near the 1000 Metres.
Horse No 4 THESIS (H111) A Badel Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running behind EXCEL WONGCHOY.
Horse No 5 NEVER PETER OUT (J200) M L Yeung Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 SIGHT SUPREME (J258) B Avdulla From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 SIKANDAR (K063) H Bentley As the start was effected reared and lost ground.
The barrier manners and performance of SIKANDAR, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, SIKANDAR will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 SPANGLE FORTUNE (G427) P N Wong Trainer K L Man advised that, in his opinion, SPANGLE FORTUNE was disadvantaged by being pressured in the lead, particularly in the early stages when SHANGHAI STYLE raced to its outside.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg.
Before being allowed to race again, SPANGLE FORTUNE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 12 STARMEN (J199) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 13 DAILY TROPHY (H283) M Chadwick Raced keenly in the early stages.
For some distance after the 1300 Metres was steadied away from SPANGLE FORTUNE.
Briefly held up for clear running near the 300 Metres between HEALTHY GOLF and SHANGHAI STYLE.
Near the 100 Metres was directed to the outside of SPANGLE FORTUNE to continue into clear running.
Horse No 14 UNITED ENDEAVORS (G030) H T Mo UNITED ENDEAVORS, which had been fractious in the barriers, jumped awkwardly.
Despite being ridden along in the early stages failed to show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
The performance of UNITED ENDEAVORS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, UNITED ENDEAVORS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER (J002) Y L Chung Withdrawn on 23.1.25 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (right front tendon injury) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter EXCEL WONGCHOY.
Before being allowed to race again, HAPPYDEARHAPPYDEER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Never Peter Out was wide with cover in midfield and responded nicely to just get up in the final few strides for a third win from his past five starts following a switch to dirt racing. Ariel wouldn't go down without a fight after reclaiming the lead 600m out from favourite Spangle Fortune. He nearly made it back-to-back wins. Lucky Touch ran on nicely to finish a very close third after a patient ride four from the rear. It was another honest effort. Viva Chaleur ran on steadily for fourth without threatening the top three following a rails run from midfield. He relished the step back to the course and distance of a placing two runs ago. Sight Supreme got going late down the outside for fifth after giving them a head start settling second last from gate 14. He continues to hold his form well. Thesis ran on without threatening after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was an OK effort backing up off a tough run midweek at the Valley.
