Magnifique tracked the leader Metro Warrior in the middle of the track before assuming the lead 400m out and staying on strongly for a smart debut win. Enjoy Golf found one too good sitting third near the stands side from gate 11. He backed up a luckless second when trying the straight 1,000m last start. Country Dancer ran on well for third after making his run behind midfield on the stands side from gate nine. He's holding his form well despite a return to Class Four. Metro Warrior gradually faded after dictating the run near the far side from gate two. It was a better run with a return to his favourite straight 1,000m. Alluring Laos ran on well to just miss the frame after making his run third last following a sluggish start. It was another genuine performance. Punted late Run Run Timing only held his ground after sitting near the speed on the stands side from gate 14. It was a slightly better final result with a step back to 1,000m on his past few runs.

Horse No 2 ENJOY GOLF (J222) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 MAGIC BEANS (J549) C Y Ho Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 6 MAGNIFIQUE (K141) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 SNOWTHORN (K025) M F Poon Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 8 METRO WARRIOR (D387) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 SHINY RAPIDASH (J492) A Atzeni The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in to ascertain whether SHINY RAPIDASH had been denied a fair start.

After taking evidence from Jockey A Atzeni and Starter, Mr A Speechley, the Stewards found that SHINY RAPIDASH had been fractious prior to the start being effected.

They further established that as the start was effected SHINY RAPIDASH turned its head across the inside barrier partition and as a result was slow to begin.

As the Stewards were satisfied that this incident occurred simultaneously to the start being effected the horse was declared a starter.

The Stewards ruled that SHINY RAPIDASH will be required to attend barrier practice to the satisfaction of the Starter prior to performing satisfactorily in consecutive barrier trials in Hong Kong before being allowed to race again.

Horse No 12 COSMO NAVIGATOR (H156) A Hamelin Leaving the 200 Metres raced tight between SILVER SPURS and COUNTRY DANCER which shifted in.

Horse No 13 COUNTRY DANCER (H436) K Teetan Approaching the 300 Metres was eased and shifted to the inside of RUN RUN TIMING to continue into clear running.
