Perfect Team was perfectly ridden one off from midfield before moving to the lead 200m out and keeping on gamely for a second win from 23 starts. Punted late Talents Ambition ran on strongly with two wider out to grab second after fading back to last from gate 14 at the start. Glorious Success was just outdashed for second after a one-off trip from behind midfield. He's a winner waiting to happen. M Unicorn made ground late for fourth after making his run five back on the fence. It was another honest effort this season on his return to dirt racing. Must Go didn't quite get the 1,650m after tracking the genuine pace being set by Frantanck from gate seven. He's better suited over 1,200m. Winning Steps was not able to gain a run until the late stages after a rails run from behind midfield. He had an excuse. Fighting Machine ran on without threatening down the outside after a wide trip settling third last from gate 13

Race Eleven : (386) - PARALYMPIC VALUE 1650M HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 TALENTS AMBITION (J136) H Bowman From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 SIMPLY MAVERICK (H346) L Ferraris Making the first turn near the 1500 Metres was steadied to avoid GLORIOUS SUCCESS which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out slightly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 M UNICORN (G466) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly.

In the early stages raced keenly and got its head up when being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.

Horse No 5 YOUNG BRILLIANT (H135) Y L Chung Near the 100 Metres was bumped and became unbalanced.

Horse No 6 FIGHTING MACHINE (J015) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 8 PERFECT TEAM (H120) A Badel Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 10 MUST GO (J133) A Hamelin After the event, A Hamelin advised that his instructions were to settle his mount where comfortable.

He said MUST GO commenced well and he allowed it to stride forward in the early stages to avoid racing wide.

Horse No 11 WINNING STEPS (G420) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 100 Metres obtained a narrow run between MUST GO and YOUNG BRILLIANT when there was doubtful room and as a result made contact with YOUNG BRILLIANT shortly after.

Horse No 12 CAPITAL LEGEND (G333) H Bentley From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 13 SUPER UNICORN (H481) K C Leung After the event, K C Leung reported that his mount travelled comfortably with the pace of the race being run inside of standard time throughout the early and middle stages.

He said when placed under pressure in the Home Straight SUPER UNICORN initially responded to his riding before becoming one-paced over the final 200 Metres.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 14 RED MAJESTY (E028) M L Yeung Near the 150 Metres had some difficulty obtaining clear running when positioned to the inside of SUPER UNICORN.

Addition to Racing Incidents Report of 22 January 2025 Happy Valley Racemeeting - Race 7 (373) HAMERON - Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

2.

Conghua Barrier Trials, Batch 10 - Friday, 24 January 2025 The Stewards today conducted an inquiry into the whip use of K C Leung, the rider of MANAPHY, and M F Poon, the rider of QINGYUAN STAR in this batch.

After considering all the evidence, the Stewards found that leaving the 200 Metres and again near the 50 Metres Jockey Leung had accidentally struck Jockey Poon with his whip as he was riding his mount out.

Whilst the Stewards accepted the contact by Jockey Leung was accidental, he was advised that he should, wherever possible, ensure his whip arm does not extend too far away from his body which may result in contact with another rider or horse.

M F Poon was found guilty of using his whip in an improper manner under Stewards' Instruction 22 in that after being accidentally struck by the whip of Jockey Leung near the 50 Metres, leaving the 50 Metres he did intentionally extend his left arm out towards Jockey Leung in an attempt to make contact with Jockey Leung.

M F Poon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 23 February 2025 and to expire on Thursday, 27 February 2025 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards considered that the incident occurred in a barrier trial and also considered Jockey Poon's excellent record in relation to similar conduct.
