Recap by phillip woo

Golden Empire was perfectly ridden settling fourth and one off the fence from gate 10, moved to the lead 50m out and just held off Prime Mortar for a sixth career win from 35 starts. Prime Mortar ran on nicely to just miss by a head after a rails run from midfield. He's always a chance if he draws a proper gate over this course and distance. Draco kept on well for third after working forward three wide from around midfield to slot one off in second 600m out. He's made a good impression in both outings following off-season knee surgery. Punted late Lean Master gradually faded after getting his own way in front from gate 12. It was a return to form after misfiring in his past two starts. Solar Up ran on well for fifth travelling third last after getting badly impeded near the 1,000m. It was a good run for his new trainer. Bulb Emperor just held on for sixth prize money after chasing the leader on the fence. Accolade Start plugged on evenly after a one-off trip from midfield. Favourite Judy's Great came up one-paced when asked for an effort travelling underneath the eventual winner on the fence.

He said in the Home Straight BEAUTY THUNDER finished the race off only fairly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 JUDY'S GREAT (J016) H T Mo In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance near the 800 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from BULB EMPEROR.

Again near the 600 Metres JUDY'S GREAT was steadied to avoid BULB EMPEROR and as a result shifted out and made contact with GOLDEN EMPIRE.

For a short distance near the 100 Metres raced tight when improving between LEAN MASTER and BULB EMPEROR.

After the event, H T Mo reported that his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise during the running of the race.

Horse No 12 SOLAR UP (J134) K Teetan On jumping was crowded by PRIME MORTAR which shifted in.

A Badel (ACCOLADE START) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that making the turn near the 1000 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in and make contact with PRIME MORTAR, resulting in PRIME MORTAR being taken in onto SOLAR UP, resulting in SOLAR UP losing its rightful running and being checked.

A Badel was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 12 February 2025 at Sha Tin.

In addition, Jockey Badel was fined $17,500.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 3 and also considered his very good race riding record.
