Recap by phillip woo

Judy's Great just scrambled in after sustaining a run three wide 750m out to eventually lead 400m out for a second win from eight starts. Favourite Beauty Light just failed to get up after rolling forward three wide to eventually land on the leader's back from gate eight. It was a good run carrying top weight at just his third start following a win. Well-backed late in betting, Sight Happy ran on strongly down the outside to just miss after making his run at the rear from gate 12. He was able to back up a win last start despite carrying seven pounds more. Smashed in betting, Draco ran on nicely for fourth after a one-off trip behind midfield. It was a good effort on his seasonal reappearance for his new trainer. Shinkansen got going late for fifth after settling in fourth last from gate 11. He's a winner waiting to happen from a better draw. The Prime just held his ground after a handy run one off the fence. He's shown hints of ability from five starts. Circus Reel produced a one-paced effort after a rail run from midfield. He couldn't build on a pair of rallying sixths over 1,000m despite a rise in trip.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (331) - GREAT GEORGE HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 BEAUTY LIGHT (J474) Z Purton Became fractious whilst being transported to the course, sustained minor abrasions to both front legs, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.

Bumped at the start.

Briefly held up on the Home Turn and lay in under pressure in the Home Straight.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 BRAVE JOY (J307) C Y Ho When giving ground near the 250 Metres lay in and away from BEAUTY LIGHT and made contact with BULB EMPEROR, resulting in BRAVE JOY becoming unbalanced.

After the event, C Y Ho stated that the intention was not to lead the event but from an inside barrier and with the pace of the race being run outside of standard time BRAVE JOY led without being pressured to do so.

He added BRAVE JOY raced greenly throughout the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 IRON LEGION (J459) M Chadwick Jumped only fairly and shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with BEAUTY LIGHT.

Near the 150 Metres became held up for clear running behind CIRCUS REEL and could not be ridden out for some distance thereafter.

Horse No 4 SIGHT HAPPY (J261) K Teetan From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 JUDY'S GREAT (J016) H T Mo In the middle stages raced keenly and after obtaining cover behind HAPPY TANGO near the 800 Metres was steadied away from that runner's heels.

As a result, JUDY'S GREAT raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Trainer C S Shum advised that the instructions were to settle JUDY'S GREAT where comfortable.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 LUCKY GENERATIONS (J338) H Bentley Near the 150 Metres was checked when crowded between SHINKANSEN (A Pouchin), which after shifting in, was then corrected by Jockey Pouchin and DRACO (C L Chau ) which shifted out whilst being ridden along.

A Pouchin was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances and to stop riding and straighten his mounts sooner than what he did on this occasion.

C L Chau was reprimanded and advised he must ensure that when his mounts shift ground he is clear to do so.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 BULB EMPEROR (J241) A Hamelin From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Held up on the Home Turn.

Near the 250 Metres raced tight to the inside of BEAUTY JOY, made contact with that runner and became unbalanced.

Horse No 9 CIRCUS REEL (J274) B Thompson A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 DRACO (J115) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.

In the middle stages raced keenly and for some distance after the 700 Metres was steadied away from THE PRIME.

Horse No 12 SHINKANSEN (H277) A Pouchin Lay in in the Home Straight, resulting in its rider A Pouchin having to correct his mount approaching the 150 Metres.

After the event, A Pouchin reported that from a wide barrier the instructions were to endeavor to find cover.

He said as a result he elected to obtain a trailing position behind midfield to comply with his instructions.
