Early favourite Steps Ahead took advantage of a prominent run to move to the lead near the 200m and just scramble in to make it back-to-back wins and three placings despite a rise in class. He has the tools to head higher. Punted late Armour War Eagle wove a run settling towards the rear from gate 13 to make it close on the wire. He's a winner waiting to happen. Beauty Crescent stayed on a length third after a handy run along the inside. He's naturally returning to form. The Heir ran on steadily for fourth with one wider out after finding a position one off travelling midfield. He keeps promising without delivering over this trip. Mighty Stride got going late down the outside for fifth after making his run two from the rear. It was another positive showing carrying top weight this season. Lo Pan Spirit ran on without threatening after a wide with cover trip from behind midfield. Aeroinvincible was stopping 150m out after getting pressured for the lead to his outside by Sovereign Fund as the late-fancied favourite.

Race Ten : (156) - DR.G HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 MIGHTY STRIDE (G346) H Bowman Shifted in at the start, bumped heavily with NAMJONG KINGDOM and lost ground.

When questioned, H Bowman stated that after settling towards the rear of the field, with the early pace of the event being run inside of standard time, MIGHTY STRIDE travelled comfortably in that position.

He said making the Home Turn when asked for an effort, he shifted MIGHTY STRIDE to the outside of the field, however, it responded only fairly and in the Home Straight lay in under pressure.

He added that he was not entirely satisfied with the manner in which MIGHTY STRIDE responded to his riding and reported to connections that he had some concern with the manner in which the horse finished the race off.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) A Hamelin Checked when crowded shortly after the start.

Horse No 4 LO PAN SPIRIT (J233) H Bentley Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 5 NAMJONG KINGDOM (K015) A Badel Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between MIGHTY STRIDE which, after shifting in and making contact with NAMJONG KINGDOM, then raced tight to the inside of PRINCE OF PORTY and SIMPLE HEDGE which was also checked after being taken out by THE HEIR (Apprentice E C W Wong).

Apprentice Wong was reprimanded and advised he must attempt to straighten his mounts when they shift ground.

Horse No 6 DEFINITIVE (K037) A Atzeni Near the 750 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from THE HEIR.

Horse No 8 SOVEREIGN FUND (J402) K De Melo After the event, K De Melo reported that his mount made a respiratory noise during the running of the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Before being allowed to race again, SOVEREIGN FUND will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 9 ACE WAR (J509) M L Yeung Bumped at the start.

Horse No 10 STEPS AHEAD (J263) C Y Ho Bumped at the start.

Horse No 11 AEROINVINCIBLE (J180) Z Purton After the event, Z Purton stated that his mount was disadvantaged by the race being run inside of standard time during the early stages, particularly when being pressured by SOVEREIGN FUND.

He said as a consequence AEROINVINCIBLE was unable to finish the race off strongly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 THE HEIR (H459) E C W Wong Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.

Near the 450 Metres was steadied when BEAUTY CRESCENT shifted to the outside of STEPS AHEAD to obtain clear running.

As a result, THE HEIR shifted out and away from BEAUTY CRESCENT.

Horse No 14 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.

In the early stages got its head up when being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier.

Leaving the 1000 Metres commenced to race keenly and got its head up when being crossed by LO PAN SPIRIT.
