Plunged late, Daring Pursuit just got up in deep stretch after sustaining a move one off the rail in midfield to remain perfect in two consecutive runs over the Valley 1,650m despite a rise in class. He remains one to follow over this course. Punted late, Soleil Fighter found one just too good after a box-seat run. He's close to a win after showing good progress in his three starts this term. Odds-on favourite Super Unicorn stayed on for third without threatening the top after settling on the rail in midfield. He performed all right in a higher grade following a comfortable win. Frantanck grudgingly gave way after getting his own way in front from gate four. He can steal a race soon in front. Jolly Ruler ran on well for fifth after copping a sharp bump rounding the final bend following a patient ride at the rear from the widest draw. It was a good run in defeat. I Can only made only a mild bid after copping a bump upon straightening. Samarkand gave up when he was badly impeded by the stopping Helene Warrior at the top of the straight following a prominent run.

Racing Incident Report

Race Seven : (145) - FIFE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters

Horse No 1 HELENE WARRIOR (J207) H Bowman Bumped at the start.

Near the 350 Metres was struck on the heels by SAMARKAND and as a result became badly unbalanced and lost ground.

H Bowman stated that he eased his mount down after this incident when he felt there was something amiss.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 NEARLY FINE (E430) M L Yeung Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

Horse No 4 SAMARKAND (H070) K Teetan K Teetan was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 350 Metres, when positioned too close to the heels of HELENE WARRIOR, he attempted to improve to that runner's outside for some distance when there was not sufficient room to do so, resulting in his mount striking the heels of HELENE WARRIOR, blundering badly and becoming unbalanced, also resulting in HELENE WARRIOR becoming badly unbalanced when galloped on and causing I CAN, which was following SAMARKAND, to be checked to avoid the heels of that horse.

K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 13 November 2024 at Happy Valley.

In addition, Jockey Teetan was fined $60,000.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 3 and also considered his very good race riding record.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 I CAN (H381) A Atzeni In the early stages raced keenly when being shifted behind SUPER UNICORN to obtain cover.

Checked to avoid SAMARKAND near the 350 Metres.

Horse No 7 IVY LEAGUE (H116) H Bentley After improving to the inside of SUPER UNICORN leaving the 1500 Metres then raced tight to the inside of that runner for some distance thereafter.

Hung in in the Home Straight.

Horse No 8 JOLLY RULER (E346) A Hamelin Near the 300 Metres was steadied away from GALLANT WAKING and shifted out to continue into clear running.

Horse No 9 DARING PURSUIT (G424) A Badel Bumped on jumping.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 SOLEIL FIGHTER (J127) M F Poon After the 600 Metres was momentarily crowded by HELENE WARRIOR which lay in before being corrected by its rider.

Horse No 11 SUPER UNICORN (H481) Z Purton Jumped only fairly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
