Recap by phillip woo

The well-backed Team Happy led and kept up a strong gallop after straightening two lengths on top for a second win from four starts this term. He made good use of gate two on his return to the Valley 1,200m. California Deeply ran on strongly to finish a close second after a patient ride two from the rear. He was fourth up with a return to the course and distance of a second in June. Fatal Blow stayed on nicely for third after sitting one off the rail in third. It was an encouraging debut performance. Crystal Powerful kept on nicely but just finished out of the placings after a handy run wide and without cover from gate 12. It was a return to form on recent runs. World Hero ran on steadily to nearly fill a spot in the first four after settling one off the rail in midfield. It was his best effort from four starts. Newcomer Circuit Duffy ran on all right to finish next best despite having to come off heels for a clear run 150m out. He will likely have benefitted from the outing. Top Scorer faded tamely after tracking the eventual winner from gate 11. He prefers the Sha Tin circuit.
