Race Seven : (91) - PEDDER HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 STAR CONTACT (E472) K Teetan K Teetan pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 1400 Metres (see ROCKET SPADE).
Shifted in at the winning post and made contact with I CAN.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 ROMANTIC LAOS (G476) K C Leung Crowded approaching the 1400 Metres.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 4 TOY SOLTERO (J268) L Hewitson Jumped only fairly and then was crowded shortly after the start by ROCKET SPADE.
Approaching the 200 Metres L Hewitson dropped his left rein for a number of strides.
Lay in in the Home Straight.
Horse No 5 JOLLY RULER (E346) B Avdulla After the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of STAR CONTACT to continue into clear running.
Horse No 6 ROCKET SPADE (G170) A Badel K Teetan (STAR CONTACT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1400 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of ROMANTIC LAOS, resulting in ROMANTIC LAOS being taken in across the running of ROCKET SPADE, causing ROCKET SPADE to check to avoid the heels of ROMANTIC LAOS.
K Teetan was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 23 October 2024 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Horse No 7 FIGHTING MACHINE (J015) Z Purton From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Horse No 8 SETANTA (G095) L Ferraris A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 BEATO (H090) Y L Chung Very slow to begin.
The barrier manners of BEATO were considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, BEATO will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
Held up for clear running on the Home Turn.
Horse No 10 SATIRICAL FAN (J214) E C W Wong After being crossed by SILVER KING passing the 1100 Metres commenced to race keenly and continued to do so in the middle stages.

Favourite I Can just reeled in Star Contact in the closing stages after a prominent run on the fence for a second win from 16 starts. He took advantage of a better draw after two eye-catching runs from outside gates to start the term. Star Contact tracked the speed from gate 10 and wouldn't go down without a fight after moving to the lead 200m out. The 16-pound swing in the weights was the difference in the end. Late-fancied Rocket Spade ran on well for third from behind midfield. He acquitted himself well after a win last month in Class Four. Punted late, Fighting Machine ran on nicely down the outside for fourth after making his run from fourth last. It was a good run following a rise in class following a 1,400m win. M Unicorn plugged on all right for fifth after a one-off trip in midfield. He has improved from one run to the next from two starts this term. Jolly Ruler just plodded after settling on the rail in midfield with a tonne of money for him late in betting. Setanta ran on without threatening travelling two from the rear. He ran below par after filling the frame in his opening two starts this term.
