Recap by phillip woo

Firming favourite Northern Beast just got up after settling one off the rail in midfield to make it three wins from six starts following a switch to the Valley 1,650m. Double Win did everything right but could not get the win after surging to the lead 200m out after tracking the leading pair from gate seven. He has produced mixed results in six starts but has come away second best twice. Sturdy Ruby ran on well for third after biding his time four from the rear. He is as honest as the day is long over the Valley 1,650m but has trouble winning. The Azure ran on well for fourth after settling four back on the fence with a step up to the Valley 1,650m. He is naturally coming around in his three starts. Lucky Banner gradually faded after rolling to the lead 1,200m out from gate eight. It was his best effort from five starts over the Valley 1,650m. Dragon Star failed to menace after handing up the lead to chase the leader. He has had a lot of racing this season. Foremost Teddy was badly held up with nowhere to go after a prominent run along the fence. He had a clear excuse.

Horse No 10 FOREMOST TEDDY (J058) K H Chan When questioned, K H Chan stated that after following LUCKY BANNER he attempted to improve into a run between LUCKY BANNER and DRAGON STAR on the Home Turn, but was obliged to check his mount near the 250 Metres when disappointed for this run.

He added that he then commenced to ride FOREMOST TEDDY along shortly after, but then struck the heels of LUCKY BANNER approaching the 200 Metres which resulted in FOREMOST TEDDY blundering.

K H Chan was advised that in similar circumstances he should exercise more care than he did on this occasion to ensure that there is sufficient room when he improves into runs in future.
