Recap by phillip woo

After a perfect trip three back on the fence, second favourite Comet Splendido hit the front 200m out and kept on gamely for a second career win from 12 starts over the Valley 1,650m. He had been knocking on the door in recent runs. Well-backed Setanta was eating up the ground down the outside to make it close on the wire after a patient ride in third last from gate nine. He proved a win two runs ago wasn't a fluke and was suited by the pace. Invincible Missile ran on well for third after a patient ride three from the rear. He was able to back up a closing third last start over 1,400m. Chater Gold came from last to spice up the quartet. It was one of his better runs from seven starts. Joyful Prosperity produced a one-paced effort after settling one off the rail in better than midfield. It was another honest effort. Favourite Dragon Star gradually gave way after working hard to share the lead outside Vulcanus 1,400m out. He had an excuse. Courier Magic failed to lift after a handy run along the inside. He does appear from his past three runs to be on his mark after back-to-back wins in March.
