Racing Incident Report
Race Eleven : (722) - KAU TO SHAN HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.
When commencing to finish the race off well after the 200 Metres was disappointed for clear running between SECOND TO NONE and CALIFORNIA DEEPLY and as a result could not be fully ridden out to the finish of the event.
Horse No 3 TURIN STARSPANGLED (J209) Y L Chung After the race, Y L Chung stated that his instructions were to hold a forward position but with cover.
He said when TURIN STARSPANGLED was caught wide in the early stages, he elected to allow it to stride forward to cross to the front after the 1000 Metres to avoid racing wide.
Horse No 4 STORM RIDER (J027) K Teetan Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 5 HARMONY GALAXY (J266) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
With the pace of the event being run outside of standard time in the middle stages, HARMONY GALAXY was checked away from CALIFORNIA DEEPLY near the 650 Metres.
Horse No 6 SECOND TO NONE (H319) C Y Ho After the race, C Y Ho reported that his instructions were to hold a more forward position, but despite riding his mount along in the early stages, it failed to show sufficient pace to do so.

Horse No 7 JOLLY RULER (E346) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 8 MANRAY HONOUR (J172) M L Yeung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 ONLY U (J037) C L Chau Jumped only fairly.
Near the 600 Metres was steadied to avoid HARMONY GALAXY when that runner gave ground.
Briefly held up on the Home Turn.
Horse No 13 CITY THUNDER (J173) L Hewitson Jumped awkwardly.
Horse No 14 LOST CHILD (G461) B Thompson Jumped only fairly.

After the running of Race 7, the track classification was officially changed from "Good" to "Good to Firm" This change in the opinion of the Stewards should be recorded as being retrospective.
As a consequence of this, the official results will show Race 7 being run on a track rated "Good to Firm"

After hitting the lead 150m out following a one-off trip from behind midfield, Lost Child kept finding to defeat Jolly Ruler for a second win this season following thirds in two prior starts. Jolly Ruler stayed on nicely for second after a one-off trip better than midfield. It was another good effort despite a rise in class following a win. Favourite Second To None got up late for third after a wide trip with cover in midfield. He has run well in back-to-back starts at this level following a win. Storm Rider lost a placing late after chasing the speed wide without cover for the entire trip. It was a good effort in defeat. California Deeply whacked on one paced following a rails run from midfield. It wasn't a bad effort with a step up to 1,400m for the first time. Solid Impact ran on without threatening after a wide trip from behind midfield. Capital Legend was on his tippy toes 150m out after poking his head in front 300m out following a prominent run. Simple Hedge made noticeable ground late after struggling to stay in touch at the rear for the most part. He requires a longer trip.
