Racing Incident Report
Race Six : (680) - SHA TIN CLUBHOUSE 1400M HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 THE ABSOLUTE (H438) L Ferraris Raced wide and without cover from the 900 Metres.
After the race, L Ferraris stated that his mount jumped only fairly and then despite riding it along in the early stages THE ABSOLUTE did not show sufficient pace to hold a more forward position.
Horse No 2 RUN RUN COOL (E322) H Bentley Near the 900 Metres was steadied away from THE ABSOLUTE.
After the race, H Bentley stated that when he had concerns with his mount's action in the Home Straight, he eased it down when not in a competitive position.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, RUN RUN COOL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 ARIEL (G223) E C W Wong Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 VOLCANIC SPARK (H388) B Avdulla Near the 400 Metres bumped with STARMEN.
Horse No 6 MEEPMEEP (H234) Z Purton For some distance near the 1000 Metres when being crossed by ARIEL refused to settle and as a result was checked to avoid that horse.
Briefly held up near the 400 Metres.
Horse No 7 AMAZING AWARD (J236) M F Poon Near the 900 Metres was steadied away from HOSS.
Horse No 8 STARMEN (J199) A Atzeni Bumped near the 400 Metres.
Horse No 9 GRAND CONQUEROR (H469) A Badel Jumped only fairly.
Horse No 10 SKY TRUST (J161) H Bowman Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 11 GREAT ACHIEVER (J049) C L Chau In the early stages got its head up and raced ungenerously when being crossed by WAR OF COURAGE.
Horse No 12 VULCANUS (J150) Y L Chung Jumped awkwardly and then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by WAR OF COURAGE which shifted in.
Noted to have lost its left front plate after the race.
Horse No 13 HOSS (H055) K Teetan Near the 900 Metres when over-racing was checked to avoid SKY TRUST and shifted out as a consequence.
Horse No 14 HIGH RISE POWER (H353) L Hewitson After the race, L Hewitson reported that he was instructed to ride his mount in a positive manner in the early stages.
He said after riding his mount along to comply with his instructions, HIGH RISE POWER raced keenly in the early stages and ultimately led the event.

Firming favourite Sky Trust quickened nicely to overhaul Ariel in the dying stages after a one-off trip from behind midfield for a first win at his seventh start. The win was forthcoming after finishing in the mix in his first six starts. Ariel did everything right but get the win after moving to the lead 300m out following a box seat run. It was another solid performance without winning. Meepmeep ran on steadily for third after a rails run from midfield. It was a good run off a 168-day break. Volcanic Spark got going late for fourth after a rails run from behind midfield. He might be better suited over a 1,600m trip now. The Absolute made headway late near the outside for fifth without threatening the top four after making his run five back and one off the fence. It was a positive showing carrying top weight. Specked late Vulcanus made ground late near the inside from towards the rear to finish next best. It was a better performance. Great Achiever plodded when asked for more after a one-out, one-back run. War Of Courage gradually faded after rolling forward to track the leader from gate 14 with late market action.
