Race Nine : (664) - HO MAN TIN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters
Horse No 1 JOLLY RULER (E346) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 2 OWNERS' PRAISE (H047) L Hewitson Shifted out on jumping and was bumped.
From the 400 Metres until the 250 Metres was badly held up for clear running behind RIVER VIEWS.
Horse No 3 RUN RUN TIMING (H403) H Bentley When questioned, H Bentley stated that from the outside barrier and with his mount stepping up in distance today, he was instructed to ride it in a conservative manner in the early stages.
When questioned regarding his riding between the 350 Metres and the 250 Metres and as to whether there was an opportunity to ride his mount with more vigour to obtain clear running between ACA POWER and STURDY RUBY, H Bentley stated that after shifting to the outside of ACA POWER, he felt that runner shift out slightly which resulted in him calling to the rider of ACA POWER, A Badel.
He said when he was not confident that there was sufficient room to improve between those two runners, he then did not fully commit to this position until approaching the 200 Metres when ACA POWER shifted in.
Jockey Bentley was advised that, whenever possible, he should ensure that he takes advantage of runs when they present at the first available opportunity.
Trainer C H Yip confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 4 TOP SCORER (J120) Z Purton Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 6 GRAND BOSS (J353) Y L Chung Raced wide and without cover from the 1000 Metres.
After the 500 Metres was bumped by STURDY RUBY.
Horse No 9 STURDY RUBY (H207) K C Leung Bumped after the 500 Metres.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.
Before being allowed to race again, STURDY RUBY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 11 SUPER CHARIZZARD (J184) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly and then was crowded shortly after start.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 12 HOSS (H055) K Teetan Between the 400 Metres and the 350 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when being shifted to the outside of GRAND BOSS.
Horse No 13 RIVER VIEWS (G212) L Ferraris Bumped on jumping.
After the race, L Ferraris stated that after leading the event, when placed under pressure in the Home Straight, he had some concern with the action of his mount.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of RIVER VIEWS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, RIVER VIEWS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 14 ACA POWER (E144) A Badel Shortly after the start was crowded by TOP SCORER which shifted in and away from HOSS.
Raced keenly in the middle stages.
After the 500 Metres was bumped by STURDY RUBY.

Jolly Ruler out-finished Top Scorer after poking his head in front 150m out following a prominent run for a third career win from 21 starts. It was his best effort from four 1,400m starts but he appreciated the drop in class. Favourite Top Score found one too good on the day after going for home on top 350m out following a pace-stalking run. He continues to race well without winning. Sky Trust ran on steadily to just miss second after a rail run from better than midfield. It was another honest performance. Plunged late Enjoy Golf just plodded over the last 100m after taking off 500m out following a oneoff trip from midfield. He was able to build on a debut sixth over the 1,200m. Owners' Praise made up heaps of ground near the inside travelling third last to just miss a first four spot. It was a pleasing effort carrying more weight following a win. Run Run Timing came from last at the head of the straight to nearly fill the frame. It wasn't a bad effort at his first attempt over the 1,400m. Hoss left things too late but was making noticeable ground late near the outside after biding his time second last from gate 13.
