Race Eight : (566) - THE CHAIRMAN'S TROPHY - Class G2 - 1600Meters
Horse No 1 RUSSIAN EMPEROR (E198) H Bowman A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 BEAUTY ETERNAL (H008) Z Purton Near the 950 Metres was steadied when being crossed by HEALTHY HAPPY (L Hewitson) which shifted in when not clear.
L Hewitson was reprimanded.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 BEAUTY JOY (E058) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 4 SWORD POINT (G448) K C Leung For a short distance after the 100 Metres raced tight to the inside of TAJ DRAGON.
Horse No 6 RED LION (H115) A Hamelin Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 7 ENCOUNTERED (G236) K Teetan After the race, K Teetan could offer no explanation for his mount's disappointing performance which was eased down over the concluding stages when not in a competitive position.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
The performance of ENCOUNTERED was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, ENCOUNTERED will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 9 MONEY CATCHER (G171) K De Melo After the 950 Metres was steadied away from BEAUTY ETERNAL.
After the race, K De Melo reported that he had some concerns with the manner in which his mount finished the race off.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
As this was the second occasion that MONEY CATCHER performed in a similar manner, the performance was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, MONEY CATCHER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.
Horse No 10 TAJ DRAGON (H164) M Chadwick After travelling a short distance was inconvenienced when crowded between SWORD POINT and MONEY CATCHER.
Near the 400 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when held up between HEALTHY HAPPY and BEAUTY ETERNAL.
Near the 200 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between HEALTHY HAPPY and SWORD POINT, both of which shifted ground, resulting in TAJ DRAGON being unable to obtain clear running until near the 150 Metres.

Horse No 12 SUPER SUNNY SING (G319) A Atzeni From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Well-backed Beauty Joy just got up to deny Beauty Eternal after settling on the rail in midfield following a tardy start. It was his first win in a long while. Favourite Beauty Eternal settled one out and one back from a trickety gate but found one too good after hitting the lead 200m out. He's as honest as the day is long. Red Lion kept on well for third after chasing the speed wide without cover. It was clearly his best effort in three tries over the 1,600m and he likely appreciated the give in the ground. Nimble Nimbus ran on well for fourth from behind midfield. It was another good run with a step back in distance after a 1,800m win and third over 2,000m. Happy Together made good ground late for fifth after settling wide with cover behind midfield. It was a pleasing effort tossed into Group Two for the first time. Taj Dragon only plodded over the last 100m after losing his momentum following a check 200m out. He had an excuse. Super Sunny Sing made some late ground near the outside after a patient ride in third last from widest draw.
