Chiu Chow Spirit kept on well after hitting the lead 150m out despite a wide trip chasing the slow pace three wide without cover for a first win at his ninth start. He got the race run to suit but had been knocking on the door with placings in two prior starts for his new trainer this term. Early favourite Global Harmony rushed home late to finish a close second settling last after a slow start. He clearly has the tools to add to a run three starts back following two eye-catching defeats. Beauty Crescent ran on nicely near the inside to finish a close third ridden for luck fourth last from gate 14. It was another good run with a step up to 1,400m after placing in three of five others over 1,200m this term. Let's Do It ran on well to just miss a placing after making his run five back on the fence. He's racing well without winning. Accolade Start closed well after a one-off trip from behind midfield. Beer Palace finished next best after a rail run from midfield. It was a better run at his third local start. Tamra Blitz tired after setting a slow pace in front.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (234) - MAURICE HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1400Meters

Horse No 3 TAMRA BLITZ (G237) A Hamelin Bumped at the start.

After the race, A Hamelin stated that his instructions were to obtain cover but due to the slow pace TAMRA BLITZ, despite his efforts, was obliged to race wide and was not suited by racing in this position.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 BEAUTY CRESCENT (H334) J McDonald From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Near the 300 Metres was steadied when disappointed for clear running between AMAZING VICTORY and LET'S DO IT which shifted out.

Was then shifted back to the inside where it secured clear running at the 250 Metres.

Horse No 6 CHIU CHOW SPIRIT (H175) A Badel Raced wide and without cover until near the 650 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 SIMPLE HEDGE (H237) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 GLOBAL HARMONY (G337) K Teetan Slow to begin.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 CAPITAL DELIGHT (H262) J Moreira After the race, J Moreira reported that his mount travelled comfortably in an on-pace position, but failed to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 LOST CHILD (G461) B Avdulla Jumped awkwardly.

After the race, B Avdulla stated that his mount was held up for clear running behind AMAZING VICTORY for some distance near the 250 Metres and as a result took some time to respond to his riding after that incident.

He added close to the finishing line LOST CHILD then raced in restricted room between AMAZING VICTORY and ACCOLADE START.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 14 BEER PALACE (H361) L Currie Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of TAMRA BLITZ.

Near the 300 Metres was briefly held up behind CHIU CHOW SPIRIT.

Close to the finishing line could not be fully tested when positioned close to the heels of BEAUTY CRESCENT which shifted out.

Horse No 1 SUPERB BOY (G335) C Y Ho After being loaded into the starting gates became fractious, reared and struck its head.

Removed from the barriers and examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion the horse was not suitable to race.

Acting on this advice, SUPERB BOY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards.

A subsequent veterinary examination found the horse to have sustained a wound to the poll of the head.

Before being allowed to race again, SUPERB BOY will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
