Recap by phillip woo
Happy Horse shook off pre-race favourite Strike For Glory's early challenge for the lead and kept finding to ring up his first win on his 12th start. He has improved this season, finishing just outside the placings in two of his three other recent runs over the course and distance. Goodmanship ran on well to finish a close second after travelling one off the rail better than midfield. He stripped fitter following his September run but is better suited over 1,200m. Post-time favourite Fighting Star faced a huge task after missing the start over the minimum trip but got going late down the outside for third. He has filled the frame in his past two races and could register a victory soon. Strive For Glory plodded over the final 150m after prompting the early pace outside the eventual winner. He might be better ridden held up for a run nowadays. Happily Friends ran on steadily to just miss the frame after travelling wide without cover in midfield. It was another honest effort. Great Days came up flat over the final 150m after his prominent run on the fence. It was only a shade better effort following his downgrade.
